On 1/24/23 at approximately 0841 hours, AST received a 911 call of a report of a disturbance. AST arrived on scene and contacted Craig Fales, 53 of Clam Gulch and a family member. Investigation revealed Fales assaulted the family member with a wood splitting maul. Fales was arrested and transported to Wildwood Pre-Trial.

on 01/24/2023 at 1951 hours the Alaska State Troopers in Anchor Point conducted a motorist assist near Resch Avenue and the Sterling Highway. Investigation determined the driver, Cerina Richards, AKA Cerina Tillion, age 26 from Anchor Point had 2 outstanding arrest warrants totaling $3000 for Theft 3rd and VCOR. Additionally, Cerina was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and was on Conditions of Release. Cerina was arrested and remanded to the Homer Jail where she was held pending arraignment for her arrest warrants and the new charges of MICS 5th and VCOR.

On January 24, 2023 at approximately 1042 hours, Janssen’s Mat-Su Funeral Home contacted MatCom and reported someone had trespassed onto the business’ property earlier in the morning. This person broke locks and stole items worth about $6,000. Surveillance photographs were obtained, and investigation is ongoing.
The suspects were identified as 26 year old Dallan Barney, and 26 year old Brianna Thronsen-Ferlaak. Both were arrested and remanded to Mat-Su PreTrial on January 26, 2023.

On 01/23/2023 at approximately 1210 hours, AST responded to a report of a two vehicle collision with injuries at mile marker 12 of the Talkeetna Spur Rd. Investigation revealed Lindsey Slatter, age 22 of Talkeetna, was operating her 2008 Nissan Xterra northbound on the Talkeetna Spur Rd. Slatter went off onto the snow covered shoulder and over corrected. The vehicle spun into the oncoming southbound lane and struck a 2013 Honda Pilot, that was southbound. The driver of the second vehicle was transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. No other injuries were reported. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision. Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene.

On January 23, 2023, at approximately 2025 hours AST responded to a possible assault in the area of S. Johnsons Road. Following the investigation Adam Failing (33) of Wasilla, was arrested for domestic violence related Assault in the 2nd degree, Assault in the 3rd degree, and Assault in the 4th degree, without incident. Failing was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial without bail.

On 1/23/2023, at approximately 2232 hours, AST received a report of a possible assault that had occurred at a residence on 1/22/2023, in the area of Wasilla-Fishhook Road. An investigation of the incident took place, which led to probable cause to arrest Marlene Katcheak (Age 38 of Wasilla) and Kallen Katcheak (Age 39 of Wasilla.) Both subjects were charged with two counts of Assault in the 4th degree, and were remanded at Mat-Su Pretrial with no bail.

AST arrived at the location, conducted an investigation, and determined probable cause existed to arrest Bristol Cole (Age 20 of Wasilla) for Assault in the 4th Degree. He was remanded at Mat-Su Pretrial without bail until arraignment.

On January 20, 2023, at 5:40 pm, Alaska State Troopers were notified that Willard Lake, age 40 of Chevak, was found deceased at his residence in Chevak. The State Medical Examiner’s Office requested that the body be transported to the SME office in Anchorage. Next of kin has been notified. The investigation is ongoing.

On 01/23/2023 at approximately 1648 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received a request for a welfare check of an individual who resides on the Parks Highway near Nenana. The individual was located deceased inside their home. The investigation is ongoing. AST is working with other law enforcement agencies to locate and notify the decedent’s next of kin.

On 01/24/2022 at approximately 0017 hours, staff at Fairbanks Correctional Center contacted the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks to report that Ruby Tuzroyluk was casuing a disturbance and damaging property at the facility. Upon arrival, AST observed Ruby in handcuffs out side of the facility. Additionally, AST observed 3 out of 4 glass doors broken, one door ripped off the hinges and 4 holes kicked in the drywall. The estimated cost in damages was assessed at approximatley $10,000. Ruby was remanded to FCC on one count of Criminal Mischief in the 3rd degree.

On 01/24/2023, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a stolen vehicle from a residence on Thomas St. in Fairbanks. Troopers responded and searched the area for the vehicle. Approximately 40 minutes later, Troopers spotted the vehicle on Chena Pump Rd. Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle, at which point the driver fled from the vehicle on foot in the area of Dartmouth Dr. and Glasgow Dr. Troopers, along with K9 Lenox, began tracking the suspect through the area. This case is under investigation. Residents in the area are encouraged to review home surveillance footage that may assist Troopers in identifying the suspect.

On 01/23/2022 at approximately 2152 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a male suspect that had broken into a hotel room near Old Airport Rd., and had fled with the hotel manager in pursuit. Troopers, along with K9 Lenox, began searching the area for the suspect. The suspect was located and apprehended hiding behind a nearby hotel. The suspect was then identified as Clifton Lord, 21, of Venetie. Lord was found to have an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree. Lord was remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center and ultimately charged with Burglary 2nd Degree, Criminal Trespass 1st Degree, Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree, Theft 4th Degree, Criminal Mischief 5th Degree, Possession of Burglary Tools.

On 1/24/2023, the Alaska State Troopers, Fairbanks Criminal Suppression Unit (F-CSU), and AST Patrol arrested Jesus David Avitia-Enriquez, 59 of Fairbanks on an outstanding Federal Arrest Warrant for the charges of Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of Drug Trafficking. Further, Avitia-Enriquez was remanded to FCC on a State Felony Probation Violation. The Alaska State Troopers, Local Law Enforcement, and Federal partners work tirelessly every day to make sure the Fairbanks area and surrounding areas stay safe for all.

On 1/20/23, Kodiak AWT assisted the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) with an investigation into a local man attempting to sell sport-caught halibut. The investigation resulted in NMFS issuing Matthew Cawley, age 24 of Kodiak, a $500 summary settlement violation for attempting to sell sport-caught halibut.
Cawley was then subsequently arrested by AWT on several warrants issued for Cawley failing to appear for court, with original charges of a felony DUI and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the third degree.

On 01/10/2023 AST received a complaint of sexual abuse of a minor. Investigation revealed that Rodman Chin had engaged in sexual contact with the victim. Chin was remanded at Fairbanks Correctional center for the offense of three counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the 2nd degree.

On 1/23/23, the Alaska State Troopers Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) in Kodiak along with members of the Coast Guard Investigative Service, conducted an operation involving the trafficking of fentanyl pills in Kodiak. The investigation showed that James Coffman III, 40 yoa of Kodiak, was in possession of approximately 100 blue "M30" imprinted fentanyl pills. J. Coffman III was contacted by SDEU during the operation and subsequently arrested. He was remanded to the Kodiak Jail for charges of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 2nd and 3rd degree.
Kodiak SDEU is comprised of members from the Alaska State Troopers, Coast Guard Investigative Service and Kodiak Police Department.
