On 10/30/2026 at approximately 1654 hours, the Alaska State Troopers contacted 53-year-old Jeffrey Mihalka on a traffic stop on Tracy Drive in Big Lake. Investigation revealed Jeffrey was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was subsequently arrested and remanded at Mat-Su Pre-Trial where he was held on $1,000 bail.

On 10/30/2026 at approximately 1439 hours, Alaska State Troopers located Sierra Brown inside of a local gas station off of Bogard Road. Sierra had an outstanding arrest warrant for Theft in the 4th degree, and was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial in Palmer where she was held on $100 Bail.

On 10/30/2026, Alaska State Troopers were informed of an individual trespassing at a residence off of Aurora Dr in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Carl Simmonds had been trespassed from the residence and advised the night prior, and was again present at the home. Carl had taken a taxi to the residence without being able to pay, resulting in an additional charge of theft of services, in addition to trespassing. Carl was contacted on scene by AST and arrested, then remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial on both charges.

On October 30th, 2026, at approximately 1700 hours, Fairbanks AST was called to University Avenue near Sophie Station for a male running in and out of the road while intoxicated. AST arrived, and the male was identified as Ellis Akpik. While in contact, Ellis committed the crimes of Harassment 1, Harassment 2, and Disorderly Conduct. Ellis spat on Troopers, lunged at them, and kicked his dog in the face. The dog was taken to Animal Control, and Ellis was remanded to FCC.

Location: Mile 320 Parks Hwy, NenanaType: Warrant arrest, DWLR, & No InsuranceDispatch Text:
On 10/29/2026 at 2036 hours the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 2001 Dodge pickup at Mile 320 Parks Highway for multiple moving and equipment violations, including almost driving off of the road in the construction zone. Investigation determined the driver, Michael Latham, age 56 from Willow had an outstanding arrest warrant for a parole violation and he was driving while his license was revoked and had no insurance. Latham was arrested and remanded to FCC for his warrant, and the new charges of DWLR and No Motor Vehicle Liablity Insurance.

On 10/30/2026 at approximately 0434 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks conducted a traffic stop on the Mitchell Expressway for excessive speed. Investigation revealed Janet Pulido, 25 YOA, was driving while under the influence of an impairing substance. Pulido was arrested/remanded to FCC on charges of DUI and Refusal to Submit to Chemical Test.

On 10/30/2026 at approximately 1846 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received the report of a deceased person. The investigation revealed that the decedent, (88yoa) of Fairbanks, succumbed to underlying health issues. The next of kin was notified. No suspicious activity surrounding this investigation.

UPDATE 10/31: The deceased passenger is identified as 33-year-old Kodiak resident James Osowski. Next of kin have been notified.
ORIGINAL: On October 20, 2026, at 10:08 am, the Alaska State Troopers were notified of a plane crash in Blue Fox Bay on Afognak Island. Initial reports indicated that two adults, including the pilot, were able to escape the plane and were transported by a good Samaritan aircraft to Kodiak with non-life-threatening injuries. A third occupant was entrapped in the sunken plane. Other good Samaritans were able to extricate the deceased adult male from the Cessna 185 and transported him back to Kodiak. The man's body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy. The man's name will be released once next-of-kin procedures are complete. The NTSB will investigate the cause of the crash.
