On 10/04/2026 at approximately AST Ketchikan based Troopers went to a residence in the area of Wood Road to contact Joshua Grootonk, age 52 of Ketchikan. A records check showed that Joshua Grootonk had a bench warrant stemming from court case 1KE-23-00677CR. AST contacted Joshua Grootonk at approximately 1400 hours and placed him under arrest, Joshua Grootonk was remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center without issue.

On 10/04/2026, at approximately 1043 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle swerving in its lane near mile 4 of the Hope Highway. Investigation revealed, Sarah Burke age 47 of Anchorage, was driving intoxicated and also possessed a loaded firearm inside the vehicle while intoxicated. Burke was arrested and she provided a BrAC of .167. Burke was issued a summons with a court date and released on her own recognizance.

On 10/04/2026 at approximately 0119 hours, AST investigated a disturbance in the Kasilof area. Investigation revealed that 38 yoa Abigail Harris had assaulted an adult female by punching her in her shoulder and causing pain. Harris then left the residence in a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Harris ultimately failed field sobriety test and was placed under arrest for Assault in the fourth degree and DUI. Harris refused to provide a breath sample for the Data Master and was remanded to Wildwood Pretrial on charges of DUI,DUI refusal, and Assault in the 4th D.V

On 10/04/2026 at approximately 1118 hours, AST received a report of a MVA-D near KGB Rd. and Vine Rd. Investigation revealed Bruce Aukon, age 26 of Wasilla, was operating a vehicle while intoxicated and without a license. Aukon was arrested at the scene without incident. Aukon was remanded into MSPT where he was charged with DUI and cited for driving without a license. He was later released under his own recognizance once sober.

On 10/04/2026 a Trooper located and identified John Brown, of Tazlina and Anchorage, at the HUB gas station in Glennallen. Brown had an outstanding felony warrant for Misconduct Involving Weapons in the Third Degree. He was arrested without incident. After additional investigation, a search warrant was executed on Brown's vehicle. A stolen handgun and drug equipment was seized from the vehicle. Brown is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a concealable firearm. He is being charged with felony counts of Misconduct Involving Weapons in the Third Degree and Theft in the Second Degree.

On 10/04/2026 at approximately 0322 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received the report of a disturbance. Investigation revealed that Matthew Dixon, (22yoa) of Fairbanks, assaulted a household member and damaged doors in their residence. Matthew was arrested and transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center for Assault in the Fourth Degree and Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree.

On 10/04/2026 at 08:53 hours, Alaska State Troopers were dispatched to a report of Vincent Wright, 63 of Fairbanks violating a domestic violence protective order. Troopers determined that Vincent committed the crimes of Violating a Protective Order, AS 11.56.740 and Burglary in the 1st Degree, AS 11.46.300. Vincent was arrested and remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Facility.

On October 3, 2026, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on an SUV in North Pole and arrested the driver, identified as Jess Eakin, after discovering he had two active warrants. During the arrest, Troopers located a small baggie containing methamphetamine, which later field-tested positive. Eakin was charged with Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree, and the vehicle was impounded.

On October 4, 2026, at approximately 1840 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks responded to single vehicle collision on the Mitchell Expressway at Airport Way.
Investigation is ongoing.

On 10/03/2026 at approximately 0636 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received the report of a motor vehicle collision. Investigation revealed that a driver hit a moose while traveling southbound at mile 325 on the Richardson Highway. No crime suspected.
