On October 3, 2026 at around 6:15 pm, the Alaska State Troopers received a 911 call reporting two adults were unresponsive inside of a Sterling area residential garage. Troopers and first responders responded to the residence and began life saving efforts. One of the adults, 33-year-old Soldotna resident Keaton Hutchings was declared deceased on scene. The other adult was transported to an Kenai Peninsula area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Foul play is not suspected in Hutchings' death. His body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy. Next of kin have been notified.

On 10/05/2026 Seward AST received notification of an active disturbance between two people at a residence on Nash Road in Seward. Investigation revealed Joni Witcher, age 47 of Soldotna, was in control of a motor vehicle during the disturbance. Witcher was remanded to Wildwood Correctional Complex on 1x count of Assault in the 3rd degree.

On 10/5/2026, Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence off North Fork for a report of a disturbance. Subsequent investigation determined Wyatt Kinzer (27 years old) had confronted a neighbor with firearm following a dispute. Wyatt was arrested and remanded to Homer Jail on 1x count of Assault in the 3rd degree.

On October 1, 2026, at 1:13 pm, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a motor vehicle collision at mile 74 of the Seward Highway. Investigation revealed that an adult male driving a red Toyota Prius was southbound when he lost control of his vehicle. The weather at the time was a rain-snow mix, with a lot of water on the roadway. The other vehicles involved were a silver GMC Yukon, a brown Volkswagen van and a gray Volkswagen Tiguan. The drivers of the Prius and the Tiguan received non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to an Anchorage hospital. The investigation is ongoing.

On 10/05/2026 at approximately 2218 hours, AST received a report of a vehicle collision and disturbance involving multiple subjects at a residence in Houston. Troopers responded and investigation revealed that Robert Reid, age 48 of Wasilla, had intentionally rammed his vehicle into another individual's vehicle at their residence while it was parked. The passenger of the vehicle that was rammed sustained minor injuries. Robert had damaged three other of their vehicles the previous day as well. Four of the victim's vehicles in total were damaged by Robert. Robert was arrested and remanded to MSPT for Assault 3 and Criminal Mischief 3 x2.

On October 27, 2025, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of sexual abuse of a minor in Scammon Bay. Following a thorough investigation, on October 5, 2026, Troopers arrested 39-year-old Darren Smith of Scammon Bay and remanded him to YKCC on the charges of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the 1st Degree and Sexual Assault in the 2nd Degree.

At approximately 0040 hours on 05 October 2026, Alaska State Troopers responded with Steese EMS to Constitution Drive for a medical assist. A subject had collapsed and was unresponsive at home.
Unfortunately, emergency intervention was unable to resuscitate the subject, who was pronounced deceased at 0114 hours.
Nothing suspicious was noted and this incident is considered closed.

On 10/05/2026 at approximately 0443 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received the report of a distubance. Investigation revealed that Megan Henderson, (42yoa) of Fairbanks, assaulted a household member then fled the scene. Charges were forwarded to the District Attorney's Office for Assault in the Fourth on Megan Henderson.

At approximately 0250 hours on 26 September 2026, Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence in the Gilmore Trail area for a disturbance.
Troopers made contact with an adult male, who advised that an unknown person had broken the back window of a vehicle parked in his driveway, apparently by throwing a piece of chain through it.
There are no suspects.
This incident is considered closed pending further evidence.

On October 5, 2026, at approx. 2125 hours Alaska State Troopers responded to a domestic disturbance in the Farmers Loops Road area of Fairbanks. Trooper investigation revealed a teenage juvenile had committed the crimes of Harassment 1, Criminal Mischief 4, and Assault 4. Charges are being forwarded to DJJ for review, and the juvenile was relocated in the meantime.

On 10/06/2026 at approximately 1035 hours, Benjermin Taanoa 38 of Anchorage was arrested on 2 outstanding warrants in cases 3AN-25-07373CR for Theft in the second Degree and 3PA-24-01118CR for Failure to Remand on an original charge of DUI. Taanoa was arrested at the Nesbett Courthouse by Court Services Officers and transported to the Anchorage Jail without incident on a No Bail warrant. Reference AK25114806 and AK24098276.
