    Dispatch Text:

    On 10/6/2024, a parent called 911 to report someone had driven off with his daughter against her will. The juvenile activated the Life360 SOS feature on her phone, allowing Troopers to quickly locate and catch up with the vehicle she was in. Subsequent investigation identified the driver as Jonathan Hammond (age 50) and determined he was under the influence of a hallucinogenic. Hammond was arrested and remanded to Homer Jail on 1x Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and 1x count DUI.

    Type: Motor Vehicle Collision - Fatal

    Dispatch Text:

    On 10/07/2024 at approximately 1430 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a motor vehicle collision at Parks Hwy and Cheri Lakes Drive in Houston. Investigation revealed a 2018 Ford Focus made a left turn onto Cheri Lakes Drive in front of a 2007 Chevy Tahoe, which struck the Focus on the passenger side. A passenger in the Focus, Ida Cockroft age 94 of Houston, died at the hospital from her injuries. Next of Kin has been notified. No alcohol or other impairment is suspected. Investigation into this incident is ongoing.

    On 10/07/2024 at approximately 1139 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a cut fence at a business on Knik Goose Bay Road in Wasilla. Investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) unlawfully cut the fence causing approximately $150 in damage. Anyone with information related to this incident is urged to contact Troopers, Crime Stoppers, or AK Tips.

    On 10/07/2024 at approximately 1620 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to an address on Bull Moose Drive in Wasilla for a death investigation. Investigation revealed a 36-year-old female passed away at the residence. No foul play is suspected. Next of Kin was on scene.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 10/06/2024 at approximately 2338 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to an address on Big Lake Lodge Road for a report of a theft from vehicle in progress. Troopers located the suspect's vehicle near the old Big Lake Motel after the suspects fled on foot. Troopers located some of the stolen property to include firearms. It is believed the suspects had stolen from numerous vehicles in the Big Lake area. Investigation is ongoing.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 10/6/2024, AST received a call of a drunk male, later identified as Brandon Miller, who was being asked to leave from a business property.  Troopers arrived and did not find Brandon on scene.  After speaking with the victim, Troopers searched the area and located a vehicle matching the one Brandon was seen leaving in and conducted a stop.  Brandon was in the vehicle and was immediately detained for his behavior.  Investigation revealed that he was not to be consuming alcohol.  Brandon was arrested and remanded at Palmer Pretrial for violating conditions of release.

    Type: Disturbance after the fact

    Dispatch Text:

    On 10/7/2024, AST received a call of a disturbance and trespass.  Investigation revealed that Michael Barbee had damaged mutual property of his girlfriend while under the influence and had illegally entered the residence of a neighbor.  Michael was arrested for DUI, Criminal Trespass in the 1st degree, and Criminal Mischief in the 5th degree, and transported to Palmer Pretrial where he was held without bail.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 10/7/24 AST responded to a 911 open line in the Williwaw Subdivision near Bogard Rd. in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Thomas Delima-Schou, age 33 of Wasilla was involved in an altercation with his girlfriend. Thomas was arrested and transported to the Palmer Pretrial Facility without incident and was remanded on two charges, one count of Assault IV (DV) and Criminal Mischief V (DV). Thomas is being held without bail and is pending arraignment.

    On 10/04/2024 at approximately 0710 hours, Fairbanks AST received a report of a runaway juvenile from the area of Gordon Road, Noth Pole. It was reported that their 16 year old son had again run away from home the between 2100 hours 10/03/2024 and 0700 10/04/2024. This is the 2nd time the male has been reported as a runaway in the past 2 months. He was last seen in the area of downtown Fairbanks. The investigation is ongoing.     On 10/7/2024 at approximately 1330 hours, the Alaska State Troopers Rural Services Unit in Fairbanks contacted 64-year-old Charles O. Edwards in the community of Allakaket.  Investigation revealed Edward had an outstanding $1,500.00 warrant for Failure to Appear for a previous pretrial conformance hearing.  Charles was arrested and transported to Fairbanks where he was remanded at the Fairbanks Correctional Center on the warrant.

AK Div of Fire and Life Safety

    Type: Fatal Fire Investigation

    Dispatch Text:

    On October 2, 2024, at 6:11am, the Alaska State Troopers were notified that the Nikiski Fire Department had responded to a reported structure fire on Arctic Circle in Nikiski. Upon arrival, they discovered a travel trailer and motor home on fire. A female body was discovered in the travel trailer during extinguishing efforts. The body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and positive identification. The cause of the fire and death investigation are ongoing by the Alaska State Fire Marshals and Alaska State Troopers.
