On October 8, 2026, at around 7:00 am, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a death onboard a cruise ship. Investigation revealed that John Requardt, age 73, of Texas, was found deceased in bed on the morning of October 7, 2026. The investigation revealed Requardt was under the care of the ships medical staff for numerous health complications and had died of natural causes. Next of kin was present.

On 10/8/2026, AST conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling in excess of 80 mph on the Glenn Highway, near the interchange in Palmer. The driver, Kathleen Napoleon, admitted to having multiple drinks the night prior. A minor was also present in the vehicle. While AST spoke with Kathleen, the odor of an Alcoholic beverage was observed, as well as watery eyes. Kathleen Refused field sobriety tests, and upon chemical testing via Datamaster, showed a result of .197. Kathleen was arrested for DUI and Endangering the Welfare of a child and remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial.

On October 8, 2026, at approximately 12:41 a.m., an Alaska State Trooper conducted a traffic stop on a Ford SUV after observing the driver fail to signal while exiting the Club Soda bar parking lot onto Van Horn Road. The driver, identified as Michael Lamoreaux, was found to be operating without a valid Alaska driver’s license and was asked to step out of the vehicle for field sobriety testing. While exiting the vehicle, Lamoreaux disclosed that he had a concealed pistol in his waistband, which was recovered and determined to be loaded; approximately five minutes had elapsed between the initial contact and this disclosure. Lamoreaux was charged with Misconduct Involving a Weapon in the Fifth Degree for failing to immediately notify the Trooper of the concealed firearm as required under Alaska law.

On October 7, 2026, at approximately 11:47 p.m., Alaska State Troopers responded to the Fairbanks Trooper Post after a man caused damage in the front lobby vestibule before leaving the area. Troopers located the individual, identified as Ryan Bud James, approximately half a mile from the post; he acted aggressively toward the responding Trooper and made threatening statements. James was detained without further incident and admitted to tampering with the fire alarm equipment at the post, which had triggered an audible alarm. James was charged with Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree for damaging and tampering with fire protection equipment within a public building.

On 10/07/2026 at approximately 1212 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received the report of a motor vehicle crash on the Parks Highway The driver reported he hit an ice patch while traveling northbound at mile 343 of the Parks Highway, causing him to collide with guard railing. The driver was not injured, and he got his own tow company.

On October 8, 2026 Alaska State Troopers in Tok received a report of an assault in the Tok area. Subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of Thomias Smith, age 27 of Tok, for the crimes of Sexual Assault in the Second Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Assault in the Third Degree, and Criminal Mischief in the Fifth Degree. Thomias was remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center and held without bail.
