    On 10/08/2024 at approximately 2216 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a silver Subaru Crosstrek on the Parks Highway near Vine Road for an equipment violation.  The driver and sole occupant was identified as Kyle Volin, age 35 of Wasilla.  Investigation determined Volin had a felony warrant for Theft 2nd.  Volin was arrested on his warrant and remanded to Matsu Pretrial, held on $500 cash appearance bail.

    On 10/9/24 at approximately 0400 hours AST received a report of a vehicle in the ditch on the Old Glenn Highway. Investigation revealed Tyler Smith, 33 of Wasilla was driving impaired. Tyler was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial on charges of DUI to be released on his own recognizance.

    On October 9, 2024, AST arrested Jerilyn Pete (33 yoa of Stebbins) at the airport in Nome pursuant to an arrest warrant for Stalking in the 1st Degree and Assault in the 3rd Degree. The arrest warrant stemmed from an assault that occurred in Stebbins on September 24, 2024.  Pete and a juvenile assaulted a woman in Stebbins causing injuries to her face and head. The stalking charge stems from Pete's course conduct/ threats and assaults involving the same victim between July and September 2024 that recklessly placed the victim in fear of physical injury.  Pete was remanded to AMCC.

    On 09/12/2024 AST responded to the area of Amherst Drive for a domestic disturbance. AST investigation revealed that Matthew Petruska (42) of Fairbanks had assaulted a family member causing injury. AST was unable to contact Matthew and a warrant has been requested.

    On 09/16/2024 Axel Parrish (28) of North Pole came to the Alaska State Trooper Post in Fairbanks to turn himself in on multiple felony warrants. Axel was arrested and remanded to FCC without incident.

    On 10/08/24 the Alaska State Troopers responded to the area of Badger Road in North Pole for a disturbance. Troopers investigation revealed that Alexander Cantu (23) of North Pole had assaulted a family member. When that family member contacted 911, Cantu took the cellphone and disconnected the call with AST Dispatch. Cantu was arrested and remanded to FCC.

    Type: Death Investigation

    Dispatch Text:

    On 10/09/2024 at approximately 0912 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a deceased person at a residence in Tok. Dispatch advised the complainant, reported Steven J. Hall, age 64, is cold to the touch and unresponsive. Investigation revealed no suspected foul play. The State Medical Examiner’s (SME) Office in Anchorage was contacted, and the death was reported. The SME released the body for funeral arrangements. Next of kin was present on scene an elected for a local burial. Tok EMS responded to the scene to assist with Hall’s remains.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 09/25/2024 Troopers responded to a reported disturbance after the fact near Peggy St, North Pole. Roger Dayton reportedly attacked a female, jumped on her back, took her phone and caused injury. Troopers contacted Roger, near the area of McGrath Rd, attempting to elude law enforcement in a vehicle. Roger was ultimately arrested for DV Assault in the 4th Degree, AS11.41.230(a)(1), a misdemeanor crime.

    On 8/14/24, Mariano Cannone, age 37 of Eagle River, was issued a summons to appear in Glennallen Court for taking a sub-legal Dall Sheep.  The horns and meat of the sheep were seized by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers as part of the investigation, arraignment is set for 10/8/24 at 1:30 p.m. in Glennallen Court.

    On 10/8/24, Cannone pled guilty in Glennallen District Court to the aforementioned charge of taking a sub-legal sheep.  He was ordered to pay $2100 in fines and restitution, forfeit the horns and meat seized by the Troopers, and his hunting privileges were suspended for one year.

    Type: Sub-legal moose, fail to salvage

    On 9/6/24, Robert Fulton, age 55 of Nikiski, was cited for taking a sub-legal bull moose in GMU 13, failing to salvage all edible meat for human consumption, and transporting the antlers from the kill-site prior to transporting the meat to the departure point from the field.  Alaska Wildlife Troopers received a report of this incident from another hunter and responded to the area on ATV.  Fulton was contacted in the field at his camp, and it was discovered he was in possession of a bull moose with antlers that measured less than 50" at their widest point and did not have four brow tines on either side.  Further investigation after locating the kill-site, revealed he failed to closely trim the meat from the neck, brisket, and backbone, and left both sides of the rib cage.  Fulton was charged with the aforementioned misdemeanors and summonsed to appear in Glennallen Court.  The moose meat and antlers were seized, as well as the rifle used in the unlawful take.

    On 10/8/24, Fulton pled guilty in Glennallen District Court to counts one and two, with count three being dismissed.  He was ordered to pay $4500 in fines and restitution, forfeit the seized antlers and moose meat, as well as the rifle used in the take.

    On 9/21/24, Michael Kruse, age 40 of Palmer was cited for taking a sub-legal bull moose in GMU 13.  He was also cited for cutting the antlers from the skull plate, a violation in GMUs with antler restricted hunts.  Arraignment is set for 10/8/24 in Glennallen Court.

    --Update-- On 10/8/24, Michaek Kruse pled guilty in Glennallen District Court to the aforementioned charges. The investigation by the Troopers revealed not only that Kruse had taken a sub-legal bull, but he had made an attempt to conceal the size of the antlers beyond simply cutting them from the skull. He was ordered to pay $4000 in fines and restitution, forfeit the antlers and meat, and equipment seized by the Troopers, and his hunting privileges were suspended.
