On October 8, 2026, at midnight, the Alaska State Troopers were contacted by two stranded adult males, from Petersburg, who drove their jet boat ashore about 1.5 miles up the Stikine River and were unable to extract themselves back to the water. Due to the rain and 45-degree weather, one of the males was experiencing mild hypothermia. After getting a fire established, they were able to survive through the night. At 8:40 am, a Wildlife Trooper responded from Wrangell, located the two boaters, and transported them to Petersburg.

On 10/09/2026 at approximately 0313 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence in Wasilla reference a domestic disturbance. Investigation revealed Violet Batt, age 30 of Wasilla, caused injury to a household member. Violet was arrested for Assault 4 and remanded at MSPT with no bail.

On October 6, 2026, at 2:15 am, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of possible sexual abuse of a minor in Pitka’s Point. On October 8, following a thorough investigation, Troopers arrested 27-year-old Pitka's Point resident Jason Katcheak. Katcheak will be remanded to YKCC on one count of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the 1st Degree, three counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the 2nd Degree, one count of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the 3rd Degree, one count of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the 4th Degree, and two counts of Sexual Assault in the 2nd Degree.

On October 5, 2026 at about 8:34 PM, Alaska State Troopers in Tok responded to a Tok residence for the report of a disturbance involving a firearm. Troopers responded and determined no crime had been committed.

On October 8, 2026, at 7:54 am, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a death in Clear. Investigation revealed that 55-year-old Clear resident Sheri Brown died at her home. No foul play is suspected. The State Medical Examiner's Office was notified, and her remains were released to her family. Next of kin was present at the time of her death.

On October 09, 2026 at approx. 0120 hours troopers responded to a report of a vehicle roll over off the Steese Hwy which involved two occupants. Following the troopers investigation Garet Jones (23) was arrested for DUI and Refusal. The passenger Gabriel Waxman (23) was arrested for Disorderly Conduct. Both were transported to FCC for remand.

Location: TalkeetnaType: Death InvestigationDispatch Text:
On October 8, 2026, at 5:05 pm, Alaska Wildlife Troopers received a report that Charles Kolb, age 72, of Eagle River, had fallen overboard from a boat in the Talkeetna River. Another person in the boat was able to get Kolb to a nearby sand bar where he performed life saving measures for approximately 40-50 minutes until EMS was able to arrive on scene. EMS provided life saving measures and transported Kolb back to the Talkeetna boat launch to await a medivac. Kolb was pronounced deceased at approximately 6:40 pm by a doctor on scene before the medivac arrived. Next of kin has been notified. Kolb's body was taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office for investigation.

On Oct. 9, 2026 at approximately 1250 hours, Anchorage Judicial Services arrested Charles J. Nuglene, age 32 of Anchorage at the Anchorage Correctional Complex on an outstanding warrant charging Theft in the second degree. Bail was set at $1,000 cash performance.
