    On 10/17/2021 at approximately 1954 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a disturbance in Soldotna. Following investigation James Bowen, age 28 of Soldotna, was arrested for assault in the 4th degree domestic violence and was remanded at Wildwood Pretrial.

    Update: On 10/18/21 at 1140 hours, a SEADOGS team located Dalton deceased approximately 2.5 miles from his vehicle. It appears that Dalton succumbed to the elements. Dalton’s body is being transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage for autopsy. Next of kin has been notified.

    On 10/16/21 at 1927 hours, AST received a report that David Dalton, age 55 of Kake, had gone missing. Dalton was last seen on 10/15/21 at approximately 1230 hours. Dalton was wearing all black clothing and had a backpack. On 10/16/21 Dalton’s pickup was located near Sitkum Creek. Local Search and Rescue teams attempted a search of the immediate area around the vehicle and located some items belonging to Dalton approximately 50 yards from the vehicle. United States Coast Guard conducted a search of 2 square miles using the helicopter and FLIR device. There was report of a possible flare sighting near the T-Junction and the landfill. USCG helicopter was unable to locate any signs of people in the area. The local SAR team was also unable to locate any person’s in the area where the flare was seen. Seadogs are flying two K-9 teams to Kake to continue the search. Members of Sitka Mountain Rescue is also assisting with the search.

    On 10/16/2021, at approximately 1902 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop for a moving violation near Kenai Spur Highway and Knight Drive. Troopers contacted Stephanie Batchelder, 44, of Soldotna. Investigation revealed she was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance. Investigation revealed she was in possession of a controlled substance. Court records show she was on conditions of release.

    The passenger of the vehicle, Rhonda Smith, 51, of Soldotna was also in possession of a controlled substance. Smith was issued a summons for fifth degree misconduct involving a controlled substance.

    Batchelder was arrested and Transported to Wildwood Pretrial Facility for driving under the influence, fifth degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and violating her conditions of release. At Wildwood Pretrial Batchelder was found with a controlled substance in her possession. She received an additional charge of first-degree promoting contraband.

    On 10/17/2021 at approximately 0128 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a juvenile assaulted at a party near Knik River Rd. in Palmer.     On 10/16/21 at approximately 2027 hours, MATCOM received reports of a head on collision near mile 50 of the Parks Highway. Scene investigation by Alaska State Troopers determined that a 2009 Ford 4 door car, driven by Melissa Joy Labriola, age 38 of Anchorage, was traveling South when it crossed the center line and struck a 2002 Chevrolet pickup. Melissa Labriola was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the pickup, Gary Alan James Jr., age 35 of Wasilla, was transported to a local Hospital in serious condition. Traffic was re-routed to the recently paved southbound divided lanes. Next of Kin for Labriola have been notified. Investigation is ongoing.

    On 10/17/2021 at approximately 0048 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a red Chevrolet Silverado for having a plate that belongs to a silver Pontiac near the intersection of Meadow Lakes Loop and Cranberry Lane in Wasilla. Investigation revealed Errol, Keller, age 51 of Houston was driving on a suspended license with no insurance. Keller was issued a misdemeanor citation to appear to Palmer court on a separate date for the charges of Driving While License is Suspended with prior convictions, Improper use of plates, and for No Motor Vehicle Liability insurance. Metal in Motion took responsibility of the vehicle. Keller was released on his own recognizance.

    On 10/17/2021 at approximately 0418 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a red Oldsmobile near the intersection of Bogard Rd and 49th State St in Palmer for no plates on the vehicle. Investigation revealed Dusty Bannon, age 38 of Palmer, was driving the vehicle with a suspended license, no insurance, and did not register the vehicle. Bannon was issued a misdemeanor citation to appear to Palmer court on a separate date for the charges of Driving While License is Suspended with prior convictions and No Motor Vehicle Liability insurance. Bannon was also cited for not registering the vehicle. The vehicle was towed away by Happy Hooker Towing company. Bannon was released on his own recognizance.

    On 10/17/2021, at approximately 1529 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a disturbance near N Popes Rd in Palmer. Investigation revealed Nathan Hooks, age 24 of Palmer, committed the crimes of Assault 3 DV, Misconducts Involving a Weapon 3, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Assault 4 against Law Enforcement (x3), and Resisting Arrest. Hooks was transported to Mat-Su Pretrial where he was remanded and held without bail.

    On 10/17/2021 at approximately 1212 hours, AST responded to a residence near E Ptarmigan Rd in Palmer for a report of a trespass. Janell Murrill, age 31 of Palmer, was located inside of a dwelling on the property that she was trespassed from. Janell was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial on Criminal Trespass 1, and 3 outstanding warrants.

    The Alaska Wildlife Troopers arrested Tremaine Lawrence (34) of Washington on an outstanding bench warrant issued by the First Judicial District Court in Ketchikan.  Lawrence was originally charged with taking an overlimit of commercial Geoducks and knowingly recording false information on a fish ticket.
