    On November 20, 2025, at approximately 1826 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence on Southbend Road in Soldotna for a report of a female trying to enter a residence that does not belong to her. The female drove away in a white Jeep. AST responded and located the female and her Jeep at neighbor’s property. Investigation revealed Carly Macdonald, age 30 of Kenai, had driven intoxicated and mistook the complainant’s address as a friend’s. Macdonald was placed under arrest for DUI and had an official breath result of .146 BrAC. Macdonald was remanded to Wildwood Pretrial where she was released on her own recognizance.

    On 11/21/25 at approximately 0320 hours AST received a 911 call from a female at a residence on Beaver Ave saying she needed help and wasn’t safe. The involved male was identified as Arnold Holmberg, age 36, of Wasilla, who had three outstanding arrest warrants. As AST arrived at the residence, Arnold was leaving in a vehicle identified by the female caller, who was still on 911. Arnold failed to stop for police and a pursuit ensued, reaching speeds above 100mph. Arnold ditched the vehicle next to his parent’s residence, on Wilmington Dr. Arnold’s mother, Roberta Pitka, age 59, of Wasilla, was contacted at her front door and issued a warning that she would be arrested for a felony if she was harboring Arnold. After a 22-minute amnesty period, a search warrant was subsequently granted for the residence and AST entered. Arnold was located in the crawlspace and placed under arrest. The investigation revealed Roberta was aware Arnold was in the crawl space and was knowingly harboring him. Roberta was also placed under arrest. Arnold was remanded to MSPT under his outstanding arrest warrants as well as felony failure to stop. Roberta was remanded to MSPT for felony hindering prosecution. No bail was set on either person.

    Type: Assault with a Firearm

    On November 19, 2025, at 1:47am, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a shooting in St. Mary’s. Investigation determined that 39-year-old Basil Emmons had fired a gun in close proximity to another adult that was in the residence at the time. Basil was arrested for Assault 3 DV, and two counts of Misconduct Involving Weapons 4. He was transported to YKCC in Bethel. Alcohol is a contributing factor.

    On November 20, 2025, at approximately 2059 hours, AST responded to the area of the Delta Junction Cemetary for a report of an intoxicated individual with an ATV. AST contacted Jason Zigler, age 41 of Delta Junction. Investigation resulted in Zigler being arrested for Felony Driving Under the Influence and Refusual to Submit to a Chemical Test. Following Datamaster processing, Zigler was remanded at Fairbanks Correctional Center and held without bail.

    Additionally, Zigler was issued a minor offense citation for Refusal to Submit To A Preliminary Breath Test.

    On 11/21/2025 at approximately 0802 hours, AST received notification of an MVC with one person pinned. On arrival, first responders extricated the individual and attempted life-saving measures. Despite rescue efforts, the driver, identified as Murphy Mackenzie, age 32, of Delta, was pronounced deceased on scene due to significant injuries. Next of kin was on scene and informed. The Richardson Highway was closed for multiple hours due to the investigation and complexity to remove the crashed tractor. No indication of impairment or foul play was discovered.

    On Nov. 19, 2025, the Alaska Bureau of Investigation’s Child Abuse Investigation Unit responded to a report of a malnourished infant. Investigators obtained a search warrant and probable cause to arrest Joseph Jones on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.
    The SWAT team was activated because of concerns for the child’s safety and prior contacts with Jones. On Nov. 20, around 11:20 a.m., Jones was seen leaving his Willow residence in a vehicle with the infant and another adult. SWAT members were able to safely extract the infant from the vehicle when Jones returned. The child was medevacked to an Anchorage hospital for medical treatment.
    Jones was heavily armed and refused arrest. SWAT members continued to contact Jones and during the response used the Alaska State Troopers’ Bearcat armored rescue vehicle and deployed less-lethal impact munitions and chemical munitions. Ultimately, Jones was taken into custody without injury. The Anchorage Police Department’s SWAT team, Troopers’ Crisis Negotiation Team and the FBI’s Crisis Negotiation Team provided additional support during the investigation.

    UPDATE: Link to photos of suspect vehicle

    On November 20, 2025, at around 11:49 pm, the Alaska State Troopers were notified that a Black Gold Transport truck was shot at multiple times by the occupants of a white SUV near mile 339 of the Richardson Highway. Later in the night, Troopers received a second call that a second Black Gold Transport truck was shot at near the Steese Highway and Chena Hot Springs Road, also by the occupants of a white SUV. Neither driver was injured during the shooting. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation has opened an attempted murder investigation into the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the Alaska State Troopers at (907) 451-5100.
