AK21017345Location: KenaiType: DUI
On 02/18/2021 at approximately 2340 hours AST performed a traffic stop on a 2004 Chevrolet Trail Blazer for crossing the centerline and driving without license plate lights. Investigation revealed the driver Susan Arndt, age 52 of Kenai, was driving under the influence. Arndt was arrested for DUI and remanded at Wildwood Pretrial.

AK21017362Location: SoldotnaType: DWLR and VCOR
On 02/19/2021, at approximately 0250, AST conducted a traffic stop in Soldotna for moving and equipment violations. Investigation revealed the operator of the vehicle, John McCord, age 23 of Soldotna, had a revoked Alaska operators license. Further investigation discovered he was on conditions of release for prior criminal offenses and was prohibited from driving and required to obey all laws. He was arrested for driving while license revoked and violating conditions of release. He was remanded at Wildwood Pretrial.

AK21016854Location: Glenn HighwayType: Single vehicle collision
On 2/17/2021 at approximately 1816 hours, AST responded single vehicle collision involving a hay bale. They were found in the south bound lane of The Glenn Highway near the Old Glenn exit. If you witnessed these hay bales fall off a vehicle please contact AST at 745-2131 and reference the incident number above.

AK21017346Location: WasillaType: DWLS
On 2/19/2021 at approximately 2339 hours, the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on the Parks Highway near Vine Road. The driver was identified as John Morris, age 47 of Wasilla. Investigation revealed Morris was driving on a suspended license. Morris was given a misdemeanor citation for DWLS.

AK21017236Location: WasillaType: Theft by Receiving
On 02/18/2021 at approximately 2059 hours, Alaska State Troopers with the help of Wasilla Police Department located a stolen Motorhome at the Seward Meridian Park and Ride that was reported stolen just a couple hours earlier. Jason Eastham, 28-year-old of Wasilla, was found in possession of the motorhome and advised he purchased it from a friend. Eastham was arrested for the charge of Theft in the 2nd by receiving and remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility without bail. Investigation into who stole the motorhome is still on going.

AK21017122Location: AkiachakType: Vehicle Pursuit
On February 18, 2021 at approximately 1300 hours the Akiachak Police Department notified Alaska State Troopers in Bethel about an erratic stolen white pickup truck that was enroute to Bethel. Troopers located the vehicle in Bethel and attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle failed to yield and led Troopers on a 50-mile pursuit along the ice roads between Bethel and Akiachak. Just outside of Akiachak the vehicle lost control and became stuck in a snowbank. Troopers arrested the driver, 30-year-old Akiachak resident, Charlene Peter on charges of Vehicle theft in the 1st degree, Failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer, Felony misuse of a license plates, DUI, and Reckless endangerment. Additionally, her passengers identified as 49-year-old Eddie Pasitnak of Akiachak, and 30-year-old Dennis Pete of Akiak were arrested on charges of Criminal Mischief in the 5th degree. The third passenger identified as 27-year old Olaf Hopstad of Akiachak was charged with VCOR as well as Criminal Mischief in the 5th degree. All four were remanded at YKCC. Alcohol is a factor in the case.

AK21017364Location: FairbanksType: Vehicle Pursuit
On February 18, 2021, at approximately 2230 hours Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received a report that a stolen vehicle was spotted near Davis Road in Fairbanks. The vehicle had been stolen at gunpoint a few days prior by an unknown male. Troopers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop; the vehicle failed to yield and lead AST on a 15-mile pursuit. During the pursuit, the driver was intentionally driving head-on towards oncoming traffic and drove the wrong way on a controlled access road. After Troopers successfully utilized a PIT maneuver, the driver intentionally rammed two AST patrol vehicles, causing significant damage to both. The driver, 33-year-old Fairbanks resident Lawrence Purdue, disabled his vehicle and was taken into custody by Troopers. After receiving medical clearance Purdue was remanded to FCC on an outstanding probation violation warrant as well as Assault II, Reckless Endangerment, Vehicle Theft I, Criminal Mischief 1 and 3, Misconduct Involving Weapons III, Felony Fail to Stop at Direction of Peace Officer, and Reckless Driving. Two troopers involved in the pursuit were evaluated by EMS at the scene and cleared, a third trooper was taken to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital as a precaution and has since been released.

AK21017660Location: FairbanksType: DUI and Refusal
On 02/19/2021 at 1427 hours the Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a VID on Chena Ridge Road. Troopers contacted Richard Henzler, age 61 from Fairbanks and investigation determined Henzler was under the influence of alcohol. Henzler was arrested and refused to provide a breath sample to the Datamaster. Henzler was remanded to FCC for DUI and Refusal and was issued a citation for Open Container and Refusing a PBT.

On 2/19/21 Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Cordova Post, cited Michael Lape, age 56 of Anchorage, for making a false statement on a license application x 4. Bail is set at $1280 in Cordova District Court.
