    On 03/28/24 at 0913 hours, the Alaska State Troopers were notified of a non-responsive male asleep inside of his vehicle in Wasilla. Investigation revealed, Christopher Maloney age 55 of Wasilla, was under the influence of controlled substance while operating the vehicle. During a search of his person a concealed firearm was located. Maloney was arrested and remanded at Matsu Pretrial for Driving Under the Influence, Misconduct Involving a Weapon in the 5th and 4th degree.

    On 03/27/2024 at approximately 0859 hours AST received a report of a DVPO violation.

    Troopers responded and a subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Collin Vice a 35-year-old-man from Willow.

    Collin was charged with violating the conditions of his release and unlawful contact. He was transported to Mat-Su Pretrial where he was remanded and held without bail.

    On 03/27/2024, at approximately 1917 hours, AST contacted Katisha Evans age 29, of Wasilla. Throughout the investigation, Katisha violated her conditions of release due to being within 500 feet of a residence of Lucille St. Katisha was arrested and remanded at MSPT, where she was held without bail pending arraignment.

    On 03/27/2024 at approximately 2145 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted a vehicle in a private driveway that had been called in as being stuck. Investigation revealed the driver, Aiden Gutierrez age 20 of Palmer was operating a motor vehicle after consuming alcoholic beverages. Gutierrez was remanded to Matsu Pretrial on the charge of DUI, released on his own recognizance once sober.

    Type: Warrant Arrest/SWAT Activation

    Dispatch Text:

    On 3/27/24 at approximately 1800 hours Palmer AST responded to an address on Kluane in Big Lake to attempt to contact and arrest David Henry, age 50 of Wasilla, for 3 outstanding arrest warrants, The first warrant was a Felony warrant for probation violations with original charges of Burglary 1st Degree. The second warrant was a Felony warrant for probation violations for original charges of Theft 3rd Degree and Misconduct Involving Weapons 3rd Degree and the third warrant was a felony probation violation out of US Federal Court for original charge of Counterfeiting. Henry barricaded himself inside the residence and refused all attempts at communication. AST's South Central SWAT team was activated and responded. Shortly after, Henry exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident. He was then transported to Mat-Su Pretrial where he was remanded on his warrants and additional charges of Misconduct Involving Weapons 4th Degree and Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances 5th Degree. Henry was held without bail.

    On March 27, 2024, at 5:48pm, Alaska State Troopers were notified by the VPSO in Scammon Bay of an assault and shooting.  Investigation found that Austin Kasayuli, age 23 of Scammon Bay, assaulted an adult female. The female victim fled the residence and sought treatment for significant injuries at the local clinic. Asayuli stayed in the residence and discharged several rounds from a firearm striking a neighboring home. No injuries were sustained to the occupants. At 10:47pm, Kasayuli was taken into custody by the VPSO without further incident.  Kasayuli is being held on charges of one count of Assault 2, two counts of Misconduct Involving Weapons 2, four counts of Assault 3, and two counts of Assault 4. The investigation is ongoing.

    On 04/07/24 at approximately 0604 hours, AST responded to an address on Farmers Loop Road for a report of a burglary. Investigation showed the shed was broken into and a snowmachine was stolen. UAF PD recovered the snowmachine and the investigation is on going.

    On 03/27/24, Alaska State Troopers (AST) in Galena responded to Kaltag for a reported disturbance. Investigation revealed Kyle Nickoli, age 28 of Kaltag, assaulted a household member. After arrest, Kyle committed two counts of Unlawful Contact in the Second Degree. Kyle was transported to Fairbanks for remand at Fairbanks Correctional Center (FCC).

    On 03/28/2024 AST responded to the area of Old Valdez Trail and Sundown Trail for a disturbance. During the investigation Troopers learned Sheila Perry (73) of Fairbanks discharged a firearm in the direction of 4 juveniles that were standing across the roadway from her. Sheila was arrested and remanded at FCC without incident.

    UPDATE:

    On March 28, 2024, Alick, Norton, and Polty each pled guilty/no contest in the Emmonak Court, to taking the moose during a closed season and taking the moose with artificial light. They were each fined $3,000, ordered to pay $1,000 restitution, and all seized items were forfeited to the state. Additionally, each of the hunters were placed on probation for a year, and their hunting privileges were revoked for one year, including they cannot accompany anyone in the field while hunting. 

    ORIGINAL:

    On October 14, 2023, while working on an unrelated case, AWT Bethel discovered a video of a moose being shined with an artificial light before being shot by someone from a boat. Utilizing multiple search warrants, investigation revealed Brandon Alick age 34 of Pilot Station, Jason Norton age 25 of Pilot Station, and Noel Polty age 29 of Pilot Station, took an antlered bull moose on October 2, 2023, on Driftwood Slough in GMU 18 Remainder. The season for antlered bulls had closed on September 30, 2023. Investigation also determined the moose was killed in the dark, utilizing a handheld spotlight. The moose was then transported back to Pilot Station by boat. 

    On February 29, 2024, AWT Bethel issued Alick, Norton, and Polty citations for taking the moose during a closed season, taking big game with artificial light, and unlawful possession/transportation of big game. The spotlight and moose were seized as evidence of the crimes. Arraignment was set for March 14, 2024, in the Emmonak Court.
