On July 24, 2024 at approximately 2247 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report that someone had just driven into the Houston Grass Station and fled the scene in their vehicle. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Keith Johns, 22 years old of Wasilla, for Driving Under the Influence of alcohol. Johns has one prior DUI/Refusal to Submit to a Chemical conviction. He was transported and remanded to Mat Su Pre Trial where he was held on $500 bail.

On 07/24/2024 at approximately 1907 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on Glenn Hwy near Mile 58 Road in Sutton. Investigation led to Ivanna Reed, age 31 of Anchorage, being charged with Drive While License Suspended. Reed was issued a misdemeanor citation and released on her own recognizance.

On 07/24/2024 at approximately 1935 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a theft in progress at the Fairview Marketplace on Fireweed Rd in Wasilla. The suspects fled from the location but were located by AST near mile 32 Glenn Hwy in Palmer. Investigation led to the arrest of Michael Dirks Jr, age 27 of Anchorage, for theft II after it was determined he stole over 30 cartons of cigarettes valued at approximately $4,500. Dirks Jr. was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held without bail.

On 07/24/2024 at approximately 2339 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence on Foothills Blvd in Wasilla for a report of a domestic disturbance. Investigation led to the arrest of Warren Goodwin, age 26 of Wasilla, for two counts of DVPO Violation. Goodwin was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held without bail.

On 07/25/2024 at approximately 0001 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to NB Glenn Hwy near Reflections Lake for a report of a vehicle v. moose collision. No injuries were reported but the vehicle sustained major damage. One lane was temporarily closed while the vehicle was removed.

On 07/25/2024 at approximately 0301 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on Parks Hwy near Lamont in Wasilla. Investigation led to the arrest of Jeffery Munholland, age 25 of Houston for an arrest warrant on the original charge of VCOR. His bail was set at $250. Further, Kristopher Berberich, age 27 of Wasilla/Homer, had three warrants for his arrest for Failure to Appear on the original charges of Criminal Trespass and DUI. His bail was set at $200. Finally, Makayla Pennington, age 22 of Wasilla, was arrested for two warrants on the original charges of VCOR, Criminal Mischief, & Unlawful contact. She had no bail. All parties were remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held on their respective bails.

On July 25, 2024 at approximately 2100 hours, multiple homeowners in vicinity of Gold Bar Road in Wasilla called the Alaska State Troopers and reported there was a male running through their backyards stating someone was attempting to steal his car and asked for 911 to be called. Multiple AST units responded to the area. Investigation revealed that the vehicle was where the male had left it and no crimes were occurring.

On 7/25/2024 at approximately 1415 hours, AST responded to a report of a trespasser on a property on W Dusk Lake Loop. AST contacted Samson Ferguson, 36 YOA of Yakutat, and investigation revealed that Samson had multiple warrants for his arrest. It was also revealed that Samson was operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Samson was arrested and remanded to MSPT, where he was held on $1400 bail.

On 7/25/2024 at approximately 1008 hours The Alaska State Troopers were dispatched to an address in Wasilla in reference to a person with an active warrant. AST contacted Shelby Rogers Age, 36 of Anchorage who had an active warrant out of APD: 3AN-22-08110CR APD Case 118956546 O/C Failure to Comply w/Conditions of Release, Original Charge Neglect/VCR X7-Bail $250.00 Cash Performance. Shelby was arrested and transported to Matsu Pre-Trial where she was held on her warrant. While at MSPT, it was discovered that Shelby brought in a controlled substance in the facility. Subsequently, Shelby was charged with Promoting Contraband in the 1st Degree and Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances in the 5th Degree.

On July 25, 2024 at approximately 1720 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Wasilla were dispatched to a head on collision with head trauma near the intersection of Knik Goose Bay Road and Clearview Circle. Multiple units responded and investigation revealed that this was not a head on collision, but a single vehicle ATV accident on the ATV trail with minor injuries. The rider was treated by EMS on scene and released.

On July 25, 2024 at approximately 1710 hours, an employee at Excel Gymnastics called the Alaska State Troopers and reported that there was a man in the parking lot who fell out of his vehicle and appeared "out of it". When he fell out of his vehicle, he was observed to be completely nude from the waist down. AST was unable to get in contact with the complainant, but requested Wasilla Police Dept help in locating the suspect as there was no AST available. WPD located the male (identified as William Hines, 61 years old of Wasilla) driving within the City of Wasilla. Investigation revealed Hines was driving under the influence of alcohol. WPD arrested Hines and remanded him to Mat Su Pre-Trial for DUI. Anyone witnessing Hines in public with his genitals exposed is asked to contact AST at 907-351-5401.

Location: AniakType: Fire / Death InvestigationDispatch Text:
UPDATE: On July 26, 2024, a DPS Deputy Fire Marshal arrived in Aniak to investigate the origin and cause of the fire. A preliminary investigation determined the origin of the fire was in the western portion of the residence near where the human remains were discovered. The cause is still under investigation; however, foul play is not suspected.
ORIGINAL: On July 25, 2024, around 11:30 am, the Alaska State Troopers were investigating reports that a firearm had been discharged in the community of Aniak. Aniak-based State Troopers and Wildlife Troopers were in the area of the Aniak Slough and observed that a residence across the slough was fully engulfed in fire. With the help of community members, Troopers responded to the residence, and fire suppression efforts were initiated. Troopers searched throughout the area and could not locate the homeowner and suspect that Troopers believe had been discharging the firearm earlier. Later in the afternoon, human remains were located inside of the burned residence during fire suppression efforts. The remains will be sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification and autopsy. The State Fire Marshal’s Office will respond to investigate the origin and cause of the fire. The investigation continues.

On July 24, 2024 at 1857 hours, AST received a report of an ongoing assault at a residence in Saint Michael. Several complainants contacted AST after seeing a Facebook Live video online of a violent assault in progress. AST was in Saint Michael for a village visit at the time. AST responded to the residence and arrested Curtis R. Tom (32 yoa of Saint Michael) for four counts of Assault in the 3rd degree for strangling a woman and placing her in fear of death by means of a dangerous instrument. Tom was transported to AMCC in Nome.

On July 24, 2024 at 2245 hours, AST received a report of an assault in Stebbins. A 37 yoa man reported that a woman bit part of his finger off during a domestic disturbance. AST was in the area and responded to the clinic in Stebbins. The man was uncooperative with AST and attempts to locate the woman were unsuccessful. AST looked for the man's severed partial finger at the scene but could not find it. Medical personnel discharged the man from the clinic after treatment. AST is still investigating this case.

On 7-24-24 at approximately 2221 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a disturbance at a residence on Chief Williams Drive in Fairbanks. Investigation showed that Jaylene Chikigak, age 29, of Fairbanks, assaulted a family member, striking them in the head and shoulders. Jaylene was arrested and remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center on one count of Assault IV; alcohol was a factor.

On 7/19/2024 AST attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a motorcycle in the area of Old Steese Highway. The motorcycle began to flee and a pursuit ensued. After committing numerous traffic violations and reaching speeds of over 100 mph, the motorcycle crashed at slow speeds on Chena Hot Springs Road. Troopers were able to apprehend the rider, Juan Jose Serrano (25) of Anchorage, before he could flee again. Serrano was remanded at FCC.

On June 27, 2024, at approximately 1940 hours, the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a Black Jeep Cherokee for failing to signal when exiting the Richardson Highway and again when turning onto Badger Road. The driver was identified as William Taylor, age 46, of Fairbanks. A search of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) revealed that William's driver's license had been revoked. Additionally, William had a previous conviction of driving while revoked in the past ten years. William was charged with driving while revoked with a prior conviction in the last ten years. William was issued a summons to appear in court.
