    Type: DUI (drugs)/Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance 5th degree

    Dispatch Text:

    On 7/27/21 at 1730 hours, Soldotna dispatch received two separate REDDI (Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately) reports of a green Dakota pickup weaving and nearly causing a collision on Bridge Access Rd. approaching Kalifornsky Beach Rd. in Kenai. Alaska State Troopers responded and contacted the driver identified as Richard George Poage, age 44 of Calhan Colorado. Investigation revealed Poage was impaired by controlled substances and was arrested for DUI. Poage was later remanded at Wildwood pretrial. Further investigation revealed his passenger, Chenae Marie Wright, age 29 of Anchorage, was in possession of controlled substances. Wright was issued a misdemeanor court citation for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance 5th degree and released.

    On 07/27/2021 at approximately 2210 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle for an equipment violation on Polaris Lane near W. Milkyway Lane in Wasilla.  Richard Brown, age 36, was identified in the vehicle and found to have an active arrest warrant for Theft II and Theft IV.  He was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility on $1000 cash bail.

    Location: Wasilla
    Type: Violating Conditions of Release

    Dispatch Text:

    On July 27th, 2021 at approximately 1400 hours, the Alaska State Troopers contacted Charles Conrad, age 31 of Eagle River, at a property in Wasilla. Investigation revealed Charles was in possession of a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt with the wrong registration plate attached; neither of which were registered to him.  Additionally, Charles was on Conditions of Release for the original charges of Driving Under the Influence, Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance V (x2), and Violating Conditions of Release (x3); and was on supervision by the Anchorage Pretrial Enforcement Division. Charles was ultimately placed under arrest and was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial for two counts of Violating Conditions of Release and was issued a summons for misuse of registration plates.  Investigation is ongoing into the status of the vehicle and registration plate.

    Type: Aircraft Crash

    Dispatch Text:

    Update 7/28: At approximately 1800 hours on July 27, 2021, volunteers from the Alaska Mountain Rescue Group and HELO 3 recovered the deceased from a steep, mountainous area of Eagle River Valley. The deceased are identified as 23-year-old Anchorage resident Dakota Bauder and 27-year-old Hawaii resident McKenna Vierra. Next of kin has been notified. The NTSB will be conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.

    Original: On 07/26/21 at approximately 2009 hours, AKRCC was notified of an overdue aircraft that had taken off from an Anchorage airport. It was believed the aircraft had gone up the Knik River Valley toward the Knik Glacier and Lake George before heading into Chugach State Park. AKRCC dispatched CAP aircraft to survey the area in addition to a number of good Samaritan aircraft. At approximately 2243 hours, a good Samaritan spotted wreckage and was able to land nearby. The occupants of the overdue aircraft were discovered to be deceased. Recovery efforts will begin this morning. Next of kin are being notified.

    On 07/28/2021 at approximately 1136 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a power cable theft that accrued in the Outer Springer Lp. area. Investigation revealed that the cable’s value is $1,814.40. The cable is approximately an 8-gage thick wire, about the size of an average person’s thumb and is 350 feet in length. The plug-in end is yellow. Investigation is pending further leads or suspects.     Location: Wasilla
    Type: Unattended Death

    Dispatch Text:

    On 7/28/2021 at approximately 0712 hours, Alaska State Trooper responded to a report of a deceased male face down in the mud on the side of Fish Creek, located at approximately mile 16 of Knik Goose Bay Rd in Wasilla. The male was identified as Edward Hanousek, age 47 of Wasilla. Investigation revealed Hanousek was last seen around 0645 hours in the parking area of Fish Creek by a couple of his friends. The two friends went ahead of Hanousek to their perspective fishing location along the creek. Other fishermen that were walking along the creek on the muddy trail discovered Hanousek body in the mud. Life saving measures were unsuccessful to revive Hanousek. Next of kin was notified.  SME was notified and released Hanousek body to the funeral home. Funeral home arrived on scene and took possession of Hanousek to their facility. No foul play suspected. Cause of death was determined to be of natural causes.

    On 07/28/2021 at approximately 1246 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to Palmer Wasilla Hwy & 49th State Street in Palmer for a report of an injury motor vehicle collision. Investigation revealed a 73-year-old Wasilla female was west on Palmer Wasilla Hwy when her 2014 Subaru struck a guardrail face. The driver had minor injuries and reported wearing her seatbelt.

    On July 28th, 2021 at approximately 0912 hours, the Alaska State Troopers were notified of a trespasser at a property in Wasilla.  AST responded, where investigation resulted in the arrest of Shana Montgomery, age 36 of Anchorage. Shana was transported to Mat-Su Pretrial, where she was remanded for DV Criminal Trespass 1 and Violating Conditions of Release. Her bail was set to no bail.

    On 7/27/2021 Soldotna AWT contacted Abelino Archuleta, age 49 of Clam Gulch, at the Kenai City Dock.  Investigation determined that Archuleta had driven a motorcycle to the dock.  Archuleta's Alaska Driver's License had been previously revoked relating to a Driving Under the Influence charge.  Archuleta was issued a citation for driving while license revoked with a mandatory court appearance in the Kenai District Court.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 7/27/21, in the Petersburg District Court, Orion Fenner age 39 of Petersburg, plead guilty to one count of Commercial Gillnet Closed Waters.  The conviction is the result of an Alaska Wildlife Trooper investigation that showed Fenner, the permit holder aboard the F/v  Commando, commercially fished in the closed waters of Frederick Sound near Petersburg on 6/29/20.  Fenner was sentenced to pay fines of $15,000 with $10,000 suspended, pay restitution of $5957, forfeit additional fish in his possession, and placed on probation for two years.

    On July 27, 2021, Alaska Wildlife Troopers observed a boat with two fishermen dipnetting outside of the ADF&G regulatory markers of the Kenai River. This area is closed to dipnetting from a boat. Subsequent investigation resulted in 44 year old Anchorage resident Christopher W. Rigel and 43 year old Anchorage resident Benny W. Fuselier Jr. being issued citations for attempting to take salmon via dipnet in an area closed to boats. Bail is $220 each citation.

    On 7-28-21 at approximately 1441 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to Hollywood Road near Pond Lily Lane in Wasilla for a report of a single vehicle rollover with injuries. Investigation revealed the driver, Justin Saunders, age 19 of Wasilla was traveling westbound on Hollywood Road in a 2004 grey Honda sedan, failed to negotiate a curve, drove off the road and rolled several times in the ditch. Saunders along with his four passengers were transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for various injuries. Investigation continues.
