On 08/10/2025 AST received a disturbance call in Kasilof. AST responded to the call. After the investigation, James Moore was arrested on Domestic Violence Assault in the Fourth Degree & Theft in the Fourth Degree. James was transported to Wildwood Pretrial for remand.

On 8/11/2025, at approximately 0141 hours, AST received a report of a weapons offense in the area of I Street in Talkeetna. AST responded to the scene and conducted an investigation. AST developed a suspect named James Molt, age 56 of Talkeetna. AST was not able to locate James. At approximately 0800 hours, AST received another weapons offense in the area of I Street in Talkeetna. AST responded to the scene. AST located James and James was arrested. James was charged with MIW II, Assault III, Reckless Endangerment, Criminal Mischief IV and MIW V. James was transported to Matsu Pretrial where he was remanded and held without bail.

On 8/11/2025, at approximately 1647 hours, AST received a report of a disturbance in the area of Susitna Shores Road in Willow. AST responded to the scene. AST contacted James Buchanan, age 41 of Willow. Investigation revealed that James caused more than $1,500 in damage. James was arrested for Criminal Mischief III. James was transported to Matsu Pretrial where he was remanded and held without bail.

On 08/11/2025 at approximately 0234 hours, AST contacted Rodney Ennis, 59 YOA, near Talkeetna in a vehicle. The following investigation revealed that Rodney was driving while under the influence of alcohol. Rodney was arrested and transported to MSPT, where he was remanded and held on $500.00 bail.

Upon Troopers arrival, investigation took place and with the suspects admission on scene, Brigina Hinds (50) was arrested for Criminal Mischief 3 under AS11.46.482. Brigina was taken to FCC for remand.

On August 09, 2025, at approximately 1430 hours, Fairbanks AST received a report of a reckless driver on the Old Steese Hwy who landed in the ditch as he almost hit an ambulance while they were responding to a call. Upon Trooper arrival, investigation led to Ethan Janssen's (22) arrest for DUI and VCOR and he was taken to FCC for remand.

On 08/11/2025 at approximately 2030 hours Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop for speeding at Mile 185 Parks Highway. Investigation determined one of the passengers, Dawn Nickoli, age 48 from Fairbanks had an outstanding $250 misdemeanor arrrest warrant for Fail to Appear on initial charge of DUI. Nickoli was arrested and remanded to FCC for her warrant.

UPDATE 8/11: The Alaska State Trooper who discharged their firearm has been identified as:
- Trp. Nicholas Blanchard, a one-year veteran of the Alaska State Troopers.
Next of kin notification for 32-year-old Charles Hedgers has been completed.
ORIGINAL: On Aug. 8, 2025, multiple Alaska State Troopers responded to a Wasilla residence to arrest an adult male on an outstanding parole warrant just after 1 p.m. The man fled on foot from troopers and eventually barricaded himself inside a motorhome’s bathroom on a nearby property. He refused to comply with troopers’ commands to exit the bathroom. Troopers breached the door and discovered the man was armed with a handgun. Due to his actions, one Alaska State Trooper discharged their weapon and struck the man. Troopers on scene began life-saving measures as EMS responded. The man was transported to an area hospital, but was ultimately pronounced deceased. No one else was injured during the response.
His body will be transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and next of kin notifications are underway. Once next of kin has been notified, his name will be released.
The Alaska Bureau of Investigation has assumed case responsibility and will conduct a thorough criminal investigation into the trooper’s use of lethal force. Once their investigation is complete, it will be independently reviewed by the Alaska Office of Special Prosecutions.
The trooper who discharged their firearm has been placed on seven days of administrative leave in accordance with Alaska Department of Public Safety policy. The name of the officer who discharged their firearm will be released in 72 hours.

On 08/11/25 at approximately 1435 hours, Anchorage Judicial Services responded to a report of a female who had an active warrant at customer service in the Nesbitt Courthouse. CSOs responded and discovered that Jessica Lee Chanar had a warrant for her arrest. Chanar was arrested and remanded to Hiland Mountain Correctional Center Bail to be set, Third Party Custodian required.
