    On 8/23/2023 at approximately 1909 hours, Soldotna AST received a REDDI report of a silver Chevrolet truck that was driving erratically on KBeach Road towards Kasilof.  The vehicle was located and ultimately stopped at mile 110.5 of the Sterling Highway.  As a result of the subsequent investigation, Robert Pennini Jr, age 70 of Clam Gulch, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.  Pennini was remanded to Wildwood Pretrial Facility.

    On 08/23/23, Troopers and VPSOs in Glennallen responded to a disturbance in the Village of Kluti Kaah. AST contacted a David Nicholas who was intoxicated and had locked his mother out of her apartment. AST investigation revealed that David was on conditions not to consume alcohol. David was arrested and held at the Glennallen Trooper Post for violating his conditions of release.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 08/23/2023 at approximately 2303 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a domestic disturbance located near Winter Way and Spring Drive in Wasilla. AST contacted Wyatt Vincent Weaver, age 18 of Wasilla. Investigation revealed Weaver intentionally caused damage to property of a family member in the amount of $250 or more but less than $750, and caused substantial inconvenience. Weaver was arrested and transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial where he was remanded on a charge of Criminal Mischief in the 4th degree, per Domestic Violence and held on no bail.

    On 08/23/2023 Troopers responded to the area of Viridan Ln, Fairbanks for a welfare check. After further investigation Brian Johnson was ultimately arrested for DV Assault in the Fourth Degree.

    On 08/24/2023 at approximately 2330 hours the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks responded to the area of Homestretch Rd. for a disturbance. An investigation showed that Jay Mayer physically assaulted his brother. Jay remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center without incident.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 08/22/2023 at about 0741 hours, the Alaska State Troopers were notified of an unexpected death at a local hotel in Delta Junction. Troopers and EMS responded. Investigation revealed Thomas Breckenridge, age 58 of Colorado passed away during the night. There were no indications of foul play. Next of Kin has been notified.

    On 8-24-23, Parks Highway Alaska State Troopers received a report from the bank in Healy that there were people trying to sell what appeared to be fake gold to one of their customers.  The people left the bank in an unknown direction without taking the apparent fake gold before AST arrived.  A search of the area was unsuccessful to locate the people trying to sell fake gold to people.  The people were driving a Toyota Prius with a temporary tag that did not belong to that vehicle.

    On 8/22/2023, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Wrangell Post, contacted a charter vessel near Eagle Island. Investigation revealed sport fish guide James Silverthorn, age 55 of Thorne Bay, was furnishing clients with shellfish using gear not set or retrieved by the clients and retrieving his own shellfish gear while chartering. Silverthorn was charged for the offenses with arraignment set in the District Court of Wrangell 9/20/23.

    On 8/18/2023, at approximately 1300 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers received a notification from the International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) of a Garmin InReach SOS activation in the area of Snowbird Glacier, in Hatchers Pass. The message indicated three persons were possibly suffering from hypothermia and needed immediate rescue.  Investigation revealed three men from Minnesota, aged 23, 29, and 30, were on multi-day hike in the area and had become too cold and wet to go further. Current weather conditions were windy with heavy rain and forecasted for the same. RCC accepted the mission and responded to the location via an Air National Guard Helicopter. All three hikers were located and transported to an area hospital for medical evaluation where one of them was treated for signs of hypothermia.  Alaska Wildlife Troopers would like to thank RCC for the swift and efficient response as well as remind the public to be cognizant of the upcoming weather conditions when planning their excursions into Alaskan Backcountry.

    Type: Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances and Violating Conditions of Release

    On 08/23/2023 the Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs (SEACAD) Taskforce conducted an investigation in Ketchikan, Alaska. During the investigation, Don Aaron Wright (Age 53) of Ketchikan took possession of a parcel containing 11.0 grams of suspected fentanyl pills near the 200 block of Garden Lane. The Ketchikan Police Department and the Alaska State Troopers subsequently contacted Wright as a passenger in a vehicle leaving the area. Further investigation revealed Wright was in possession of 0.5 grams of suspected fentanyl pills. Wright was arrested for one count of Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances in the Second Degree, one count of Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances in the Fourth Degree, and Violating Conditions of Release. Wright was transported and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center and held without bail. SEACAD would like to thank the Ketchikan Police Department, the Alaska State Troopers, and the Ketchikan Department of Corrections Pretrial Enforcement Division for their assistance during this investigation.
