    On Sept. 16, 2025, Alaska State Troopers were notified around 8:10 p.m. about a search and rescue involving two adult males who had fallen from the Mount Roberts trail and slid down the steep mountainside. The men were passengers on a cruise ship and were visiting Juneau. One of the men was extracted by Juneau Mountain Rescue and had minor injuries. The second man,  36-year-old Britian Pool of Texas, had slid further down the mountain and was located by drones operated by JMR, troopers, the Juneau Police Department and Alaska Department of Transportation. Pool was deceased from injuries sustained during the fall. Troopers and JMR volunteers recovered his body. Pool’s remains were transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office and his next of kin was notified. SEADOGS and Capital City Fire/Rescue also contributed to search and rescue efforts.

    On 09/16/25 AST received a report that a man had crashed his vehicle into a fence and departed the area. The driver, Vadim Petrovich, was located 1 block away in his residence. After an investigation, he was arrested for DUI and later charged with Refusal to Submit to Chemical Testing. He was remanded to FCC on two Felony counts due to having 2 prior DUI convictions.

    On September 16, 2025, at approximately 21:55 hours, AST responded to a motor vehicle Collison at Goldstream and Steese Hwy. One of the drivers fled. AST searched the area but was unable to locate the driver.

    On 09/17/2025 at approximately 1050 hours, AST responded to the intersection of McGrath Road and Farmer’s Loop for a report of a motor vehicle collision. Investigation revealed that one vehicle rear ended the other vehicle. Two individuals were taken to FMH due to injuries. One vehicle was towed due to damage, and the other was left with the driver.

    On September 14, 2025, around 10:30 pm, the Alaska State Troopers were notified of an inmate's death at the Anchorage Correctional Complex. Investigators from the Alaska Bureau of Investigation responded and initiated an investigation into the death. A preliminary investigation determined that 37-year-old Kodiak resident Kurt Malutin had been located unresponsive in his general housing unit cell around 9:00 pm. Correctional Officers and DOC medical staff already in the housing unit began immediate life-saving measures, which were continued by the Anchorage Fire Department. Despite these efforts, Malutin was declared deceased around 9:35 pm. His body was sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy. His next of kin have been notified. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
