On September 26, 2026, at 3:19 pm, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a single-vehicle collision near Mile 13 of the North Tongass Highway, in which a southbound vehicle left the roadway. North Tongass EMS arrived on scene prior to Troopers and transported the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, 78-year-old Ketchikan resident John Olson to a Ketchikan area hospital, where he died a couple hours later. Next of kin was at the hospital at the time of Olson's death. Olson was reported to have been wearing a seat belt but still sustained serious injuries. Olson's remains are being transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

On 9/26/26 at 1500 hours, Troopers stopped a vehicle near mile 146 of the Sterling Highway for multiple equipment violations. The driver was contacted and identified as Charles Tangman, 42 of Anchor Point, and it was found that Tangman was driving on a suspended license. Tangman was given a summons to appear and released.

On September 28, 2026, at approximately 1252 hours, AST conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near Scout Lake Loop in Sterling. The vehicle did not stop and a short pursuit ensued. The vehicle ultimately stopped at a residence. The driver was identified as Paul Jacobsen-Wilson who has a suspended license. During a search, AST located heroin in Jacobsen-Wilson's wallet. Jacobsen-Wilson was arrested and remanded at Wildwood Correctional Center for Fail to Stop 2, DWLS, and MICS 4.

On September 26, 2026, at 10:23 PM, Alaska State Troopers in Palmer responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of S. Knik Goose Bay Road and W. Carmel Road in Wasilla. An initial investigation revealed that a sedan entered the path of an oncoming truck causing a collision. A passenger in the sedan was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

On September 25, 2026, at 11:42 am, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of an assault in the village of Napaskiak. A Napaskiak VPSO responded. Investigation revealed that 53-year-old Napaskiak resident Peter Williams had assaulted an adult female. During the course of the investigation Williams brandished a handgun at the VPSO. AST, AWT and ABI Troopers then responded to the village and eventually found Williams at a nearby fish camp, where he was arrested on the charges of one count of Coercion, one count of Assault in the 3rd Degree on a peace officer, two counts of Assault in the 4th Degree, two counts of Assault in the 4th Degree on a peace officer, one count of Resisting Arrest and one count of Assault in the Presence of a Child. Williams was transported and remanded to the Yukon–Kuskokwim Correctional Center.

On September 26, 2026, Alaska State Troopers received a call from Igiugig, reporting that Kevin Olympic, age 46, was located deceased in his home. Olympic's body is being transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. Next of kin has been notified. Foul play is not expected at this time.

On September 27, 2026, at approximately 2026 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to the Skyridge Rd area for a reported DV Assault. Investigation revealed that William Burdo, 43YOA of Fairbanks, committed the offense of Assault 2 DV, Assault 3 DV, Assault 4 DV x2, and Criminal Mischief 5. William was placed under arrest and transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center and held without bail.

At approximately 2330 hours on 27 September 2026, Alaska State Troopers responded to the area of Leuthold Drive for a call of a domestic disturbance. The caller advised that her husband was armed, and that he would not leave her alone.
Troopers determined that John Kane was the primary aggressor. He was arrested and remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center, charged with Assault in the Fourth Degree (DV) and Misconduct Involving Weapons in the Fourth Degree.

On 09/27/2026 at approximately 2156 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received the report of a motor vehicle collision at mile 318 of the Parks Highway. Investigation revealed that, Jennifer Chambers (38yoa), of Fairbanks, was driving under the influence of alcohol, collided with another motorist causing injury, and leaving the scene of an accident. Jennifer was arrested and transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center.

Investigation revealed that Ethan was driving with his license cancelled and had a prior conviction of DWLR. Ethan was arrested and transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center.

Upon investigation, it was determined that Cheala Shepherd (24 YOA) of North Pole, had assaulted a household member. It was also determined that Cheala had an active arrest warrant in 4FA-24-02319CR. Cheala was arrested for Assault in the Fourth Degree and the warrant.

On September 26, 2026, at 12:50 am, a health aide in Elim reported Lorraine M. Saccheus (40 yoa of Elim) was injured at a house in Elim during the late evening hours of September 25,2026. Health aides responded to her house to treat her for a reported injury. Health aides transported Saccheus to the clinic in Elim where she was pronounced deceased. ABI responded to Elim to investigate the death. The circumstances surrounding Saccheus' death are still under investigation by ABI and the State Medical Examiner's Office. If anybody has relevant information about this investigation, please call AST at 907 451 5100.

On September 26, 2026, at 5:32 pm, the Alaska State Troopers were notified that an adult male was located deceased near Slipper Lake in the Sutton area. Troopers responded and located 47-year-old Palmer resident Daniel Gunderson deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators from the Alaska Bureau of Investigation responded, assumed case responsibility, and identified a family member as a person of interest. A preliminary investigation determined that a 16-year-old family member was recreating with Gunderson when the family member intentionally shot Gunderson multiple times. The family member then fled the area in Gunderson's truck and drove to Seward. The family member called 911 in Seward and was subsequently detained by Seward Police. The 16-year-old was remanded to Mat-Su Youth Facility on juvenile criminal charges. Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues. Gunderson's next of kin have been notified, and his body was sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy.
