    On 9/7/20 at approximately 2000 hours, Troopers arrested Stephen Vanaernam, 34 of Anchor Point, at a residence on Birch Haven in Anchor Point.  Vanaernam was arrested after it was found he was on conditions of release prohibiting him from being at the residence or being in contact with three people at the residence.  Vanaernam was arrested and remanded into the Homer Jail pending arraignment.

    n 09/08/20, at approximately 0345 hours,  the Alaska State Troopers and Wasilla Police Department were notified by Fairbanks AST of a wanted subject, Tyler Smith, 19 yoa, who was believed to be in the Mat-Su Valley and had several felony warrants totaling $35,000. The Wasilla Police Department with AST assistance, located Smith and an another individual in vehicle at Lake Lucile Park in Wasilla. Smith did not comply with officer commands and reversed at a high rate speed. A WPD Officer was struck by the driver side door of the vehicle and was drug a few feet before falling to the ground. No major injuries were reported.

    Smith fled toward Anchorage. AST attempted to spike strip the vehicle on Trunk Road.  Smith drove his vehicle off the roadway, jumped the curve and briefly drove towards the trooper who deployed the spike strips. The trooper had to take evasive action to avoid being struck. APD was notified and was able to successfully spike the vehicle near the JBER exit.  Ultimately, Smith lost control and crashed into a guardrail near Bootlegger’s Cove.

    Smith fled the vehicle on foot and a perimeter was set up. APD utilized a canine to track Smith but the search was unsuccessful. The vehicle was impounded. Smith is still at large. Anyone with information about Smith’s possible whereabouts are encouraged to contact law enforcement in the area immediately. The other individual in the vehicle did not report any injuries and was released from the scene.

    On 09/08/2020 at approximately 1441 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a stolen vehicle from a property located at W. Hoot Hollow Cir and Prospect Dr in Palmer. Investigation revealed James Hollingsworth, reported his 1969 yellow Ford F600 box van was stolen sometime between three weeks ago and Thursday, while he was out of town. Hollingsworth also reported inside the van was a large 200lbs Herman Nelson heater valued at approximately $2000.00. Anyone with information should contact the Alaska State Troopers.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 09/08/2020, at approximately 1302 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a small plane crash at 8091 E Palmer-Wasilla Highway in Palmer. Investigation revealed Robert Cardwell, age 75 of Palmer, was attempting to land his Cessna airplane on a private airstrip but was unable to break fast enough and hit the fence at the end of the landing area. The plane came to rest slightly nose-down in the ditch on the other side of the fence. No injuries were reported but there was significant damage to the front end of the aircraft. The FAA was notified of the crash.

    On 09-06-2020 at approximately 1350 hours, Aniak AST Troopers received a call reporting a disturbance in progress at a residence in Aniak.  The caller stated one of the individuals had a broken arm and was currently bleeding from the head.  AST responded to the residence.  Upon arrival at the residence, AST contacted Andrew John Jr. (32), of Aniak, and Alfred Morgan (36), of Aniak.  During the investigation, Alfred Morgan presented a semi-automatic rifle towards troopers and Andrew John Jr. presented a knife towards troopers at the same time.  After a brief altercation with both individuals, Andrew and Alfred were arrested and taken into custody.  The investigation revealed Andrew John Jr. assaulted another family member prior to AST arrival.  Upon conclusion of the investigation, Andrew John Jr. was arrested on 2 counts of Assault in the 3rd degree, Domestic Violence Assault in the 4th degree, Criminal Mischief in the 4th degree, Resisting Arrest and Probation Violation.  Alfred Morgan was arrested on 2 counts of Assault in the 3rd degree, Misconduct Involving Weapons in the 4th degree, Resisting Arrest, Escape in the 2nd degree and Theft in the 4th degree.  Both individuals were transported and remanded at YKCC in Bethel and held without bail.  No troopers or individuals were injured during the confrontation.  Alcohol was a determining factor.
