On 8/12/2021, the Palmer Child Abuse Investigation Unit received a report that Reececharles Freeman, 55, had reported to his probation officer that he had fallen asleep at a woman’s residence in Big Lake on the couch and when he woke up, her 4-year-old daughter was on the couch beside him. At the time, Freeman was on probation for Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the First Degree for a prior offense. During a forensic interview, the four-year-old disclosed that Freeman had caused her to engage in sexual contact with him. The four-year-old disclosed the abuse with the help of anatomical diagrams and anatomical dolls, demonstrating the acts. Further investigation provided corroborating details for the child’s disclosure. On 8/24/21, Freeman was arrested at his meeting with his probation officer and charged with Sexual Abuse of a Minor 2, Violation by Sex Offender of a Condition of Probation, as well as probation violations.
On 2/25/2025, Freeman was found guilty of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the Second Degree following a jury trial in Palmer. Freeman is scheduled to be sentenced in July, 2025.
