On 8/2/2020 at approximately 1135 hours, Kodiak Police Department received a report from Donald Zimmerman age 71 of Kodiak advising he had just been mauled by a bear on Pillar Mountain.  AWT, AST, Kodiak Police Department and EMS responded to the scene and located Zimmerman approximately .5 miles from the road on a trail.  Zimmerman was transported to the road and taken to Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center by Ambulance in stable condition. AWT and ADF&G searched the area but did not locate the bear. Zimmerman had been jogging on the trail when the incident occurred.
