Update 9:15pm: The avalanche at mile post 45 of the Seward Highway has been cleared. The highway is now open.Update 5:15pm: The highway closure is expected to last three hours.
An avalanche is currently blocking the Seward Highway near milepost 45.0. Alaska DOT is en route to the area to assess the slide area. At this time there is no estimated duration for the closure.
