On 6/11/20, at approximately 0538 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of an assault in the village of New Stuyahok between Marcus Wyagon, 29 yoa, and Devin Andrew, 23 yoa, both of New Stuyahok. Wyagon was reportedly at the clinic receiving treatment for his injuries. Additional information was later received from a VPO that Jamie Acovak, 31 yoa of New Stuyahok, was found at Wyagon’s residence unresponsive. She had visible, serious physical injuries. A health aid responded and confirmed Acovak to be deceased. AST Dillingham Troopers responded to the community arriving at approximately 0930 hours. AST was advised that Andrew was seen entering his residence when AST arrived in the village. Troopers responded and made verbal contact with Andrew through the door. Shortly after, Troopers heard a gunshot from inside the residence. Troopers made entry into the residence and found Andrew laying on the floor suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite Troopers and a health aids efforts providing life saving measures, Andrew succumbed to his injuries.
ABI investigators are en route and will assume case responsibility. Next of kin for Acovak and Andrew have been notified. Both decedents will be transported to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage for autopsy.
