On 07/14/2020 at approximately 1527 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of an injured rock climber in the Hatcher Pass area, near the end of Archangel Road, in Palmer. Investigation revealed a rock climber fell over 25 feet, landing on a ledge, 60 feet above the ground. Alaska State and Wildlife Troopers responded to the area via 4 wheeler and the Rescue Coordination Center (RCC) responded from JBER for a hoist rescue. The climber is reported to have neck and back injury. At approximately 2130 hours, RCC was able to successfully rescue the injured climber and they were transported to Providence Hospital in Anchorage with non-life-threatening injury. Troopers would like to thank RCC for their assistance in this incident.
