On 11/09/2020, as a result of the continued investigation into the sale and distribution of methamphetamine and heroin in Nome, Alaska by the Nome Office of the Western Alaska Alcohol and Narcotics Team, the Anchorage Airport Interdiction Task Force, and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, Robert Cahoon, age 59 of Nome, was arrested and charged with the Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances in the 3rd and 4th Degrees.
Cahoon was traveling from Anchorage to Nome and was found by investigators to be in possession of approximately 54.2 grams (2 ounces) of methamphetamine and approximately 452.6 grams (1 lbs) of marijuana bud. On the streets of Nome, methamphetamine is sold for approximately $100-$120 per user dose which is equal to approximately one tenth of a gram (0.10g). Marijuana bud is commonly sold for approximately $25 per gram. Therefore, the approximate street value of the 542 user doses of methamphetamine seized is $54,200.00 and the marijuana bud is $11,315.00. Cahoon was subsequently arrested and remanded at the Anchorage Jail on the charges of Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances in the 3rd and 4th Degrees; he was held without bail pending arraignment.
