On 07/19/2021 at approximately 2030 hours, Alaska State Troopers attempted a traffic stop on a blue 2001 Subaru Impreza for a speeding violation on the Parks Highway near Zero Lake Road. The Subaru failed to stop and eluded at speed of approximately 90 mph. Multiple spike strips were deployed by AST and three tires were successfully deflated on the fleeing Subaru. The pursuit concluded when a Wasilla Police unit executed a PIT (Pursuit Intervention Technique) which caused the Subaru to lose control and come to a stop in the median of the Parks Highway near the Trunk exit. The driver was identified as Billy Hunter-Teegarden, age 34, of Anchorage. He was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial on a felony count of Fail to Stop at the Direction of an Officer and a count of Reckless Endangerment. The investigation is ongoing.
