On 08/01/2021 at around 0330 hours, Alaska State Troopers with the Fairbanks Post responded to the area of University Ave and Sandvik St reference a report of shots fired. The caller identified a white sedan leaving the area.
Upon arrival Troopers located shell casings in the roadway, along with the smell of burnt gunpowder. Troopers contacted a male and female in the area. It was confirmed they were involved in the incident as victims.
The two victims reported seeing the female’s ex-boyfriend, Rahzel Dancy, at Spur’s bar. The two victims left the bar, but were apparently followed home by Dancy. The female victim and Dancy spoke on the phone. Dancy made threats to shoot the two victims. He also threatened to damage the male victim’s vehicle.
While on the phone, the female victim heard gun shots from close range as well as hearing the gunshots over the phone call. She saw a vehicle known to belong to Dancy leave the area. The male victim’s truck window had been smashed.
2014 Sandvik, an occupied dwelling, was struck by a bullet.
Troopers followed up and were able to locate Dancy, who was placed under arrest. Evidence was seized pending a search warrant.
Dancy was remanded for Misconduct Involving Weapons in the First Degree, Domestic Violence Assault in the 3rd, Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree.
