On 8/3/21 at approximately 1115 hours Tok AST responded to a two vehicle crash near mile 1317 Alaska Hwy. Investigation revealed Victoria Rego, age 43, had been driving a 2013 Ford Expedition northbound on the highway. Rego had slowed to make a left turn into a driveway and as she made the turn was struck from behind by a 2011 Hyundai Sonata driven by Sallie Demers, age 76. Demers's vehicle overturned and landed upside down in the ditch on the southbound side of the highway. Good Samaritans helped extricate Demers from the vehicle and provided support until Tok EMS arrived on scene. Demers was eventually transported by air to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital for non life threatening injuries. All parties were wearing seat belts and neither driver was impaired when the collision occurred. Investigation is ongoing.
