On September 15, 2021, at approximately 1325 hours the Alaska State Troopers were notified of an SOS activation from a satellite communications device near Friday Creek in the Knik River Valley. After further investigation, it was determined that an adult male was sheep hunting and was stuck in snow on a steep and unstable slope. The Alaska State Troopers requested assistance from the Alaska Rescue Coordination Center who deployed a helicopter rescue team to the area. The man was rescued by the team and transported to Palmer Airport; he declined medical treatment or evaluation.
