UPDATE: The deceased driver has been identified as Christopher Manacher, age 71 of Wasilla. NOK has been notified.

ORIGINAL: On 12/03/2021 at approximately 1730 hours, Alaska State Troopers and BHP responded to Palmer Wasilla Hwy (PWH) and Bobby Day in Wasilla for a report of a head-on collision. Investigation revealed a 2004 Chrysler 4 door was east on PWH, crossed left of the yellow center line, and struck a 2015 Toyota minivan head-on. The driver of the Chrysler, a 71 year old Wasilla male, was declared deceased at a local hospital. NOK notifications and the investigation into the collision are ongoing. The roadway was closed for approximately two hours for scene investigation and has since re-opened.
