Dispatch Text:

On 5-8-22 at 1500 hours, Matcom Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a 4-wheeler had driven off an embankment and a rollover had occurred with a sixteen-year-old female that was seriously injured to her head and neck located just southeast of Swan Lake towards Knik Glacier in a creek. The Anchorage based ASTAR Helo3 helicopter was launched to the scene. The LifeMed helicopter was requested and responded from Soldotna. Mat-Su EMS and a State Park Ranger responded towards the scene via ATVs from the Knik River pavilion.  After arriving on scene, it was determined that the victim, age 16, of Eagle River, was driving a Yamaha Grizzly without a helmet following two other ATV’s when she drove off an approximate 12-foot ledge into a shallow creek bed.  The ATV landed on its side and the driver landed on her head and neck,  sustaining serious injuries. The victim was treated on scene and transported by LifeMed to Providence Alaska Medical Center for treatment.
