On May 12, 2022 at approximately 2006 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report that Lorraine Fairchild was shooting unsafely in the backyard of her Wasilla residence. AST responded to the residence and found that Fairchild was shooting a .308 rifle in the direction of residences and Wasilla Fishhook Road (approximately 200 feet away) without a backstop. A heavy odor of an alcoholic beverage could be smelled on her person and it was later determined that her Breath Alcohol Content was .211. Fairchild's three young children were also on scene. Fairchild was arrested and remanded to Mat Su Pre Trial on one count of Second Degree Misconduct Involving Weapons, two counts of Fourth Degree Misconduct Involving Weapons and three counts of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
