Dispatch Text:

On 01/28/2024, the Alaska State Troopers took a report of animal neglect at a residence in Kasilof. The complainant learned that several dogs had been rescued, but there was a deceased dog on scene. AST recovered a frozen and emaciated dog from the property that was chained to a tree. The weather during the week was consistently below zero. There was no food or water found in the dog bowls on the property and there were numerous chains affixed to trees where the rescued dogs were located.

AST would like to thank Twin Cities Veterinary Clinic for their help in the investigation. They were able to provide insight into the emaciated and neglected nature of the deceased dog. The dog was a younger male who would have likely been otherwise healthy. AST later learned the dog’s name was Lee.

Investigation revealed that Heather Harris and Harley Potter failed to provide adequate food, water, and shelter to dogs at their property and were essentially abandoned in subzero temperatures. They were subsequently charged and arrested for two felony counts of animal cruelty and they were transported to Wildwood.
