UPDATE:

On April 12, 2024, Sipary pled guilty to taking a wrong sex muskox, using a rimfire rifle to take big game, and unlawful possession/transportation of game. He was fined $1,500 in the Bethel Court and the trophy was forfeited to the state. 

ORIGINAL:

On April 3, 2024, AWT Bethel received a tip regarding an unlawfully harvested muskox near Toksook Bay, in GMU 18 Remainder. Investigation determined Christen Sipary, age 28 of Toksook Bay, took a bull muskox on March 18, 2024, while only having a valid permit for a cow muskox. Further investigation revealed the muskox was taken with a .17hmr rimfire rifle, in violation of regulation, then transported back to Toksook Bay. Sipary was issued citations for taking a wrong sex muskox, using a rimfire rifle to take big game, and unlawful possession/transportation of game. The head was seized as evidence of the crime and the meat was donated to elders in the community. Arraignment is set for April 12, 2024, in the Bethel Court.
