Dispatch Text:
On May 22, 2024, at 1:35 pm, the US Coast Guard notified the Alaska State Troopers of an overturned vessel in Aialik Bay. A preliminary investigation revealed that a 22-foot Hewes Craft boat had departed Seward on May 21, 2024, but could not return to Seward due to poor sea conditions and weather. At 5:30 am on May 22, 2024, the USCG received a mayday call from the vessel stating that the vessel was taking on water. USCG air and marine assets and good samaritan vessels responded to the area. 29-year-old Soldotna resident Hayden Green was located deceased in the water and taken back to Seward on a Good Samaritan vessel. His body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. The other three occupants of the vessel, 60-year-old Seward resident Joshua Green, 29-year-old Anchorage resident Caleb Green, and an adult female, are currently unaccounted for. The identity of the adult female will be released once the next of kin has been notified. The Alaska State Troopers have activated the Alaska Dive, Search, Rescue, and Recovery Team, and they are currently responding to the area in an attempt to locate the three missing persons. Next of kin have been notified.
