On January 29, 2025, at 6:37 pm, the Alaska State Troopers received a 911 call that an adult female had been physically and sexually assaulted in Houston. Troopers responded and began investigating the allegations. A preliminary investigation conducted by the Alaska Bureau of Investigation determined that 57-year-old Houston resident Terry Tomlinson had kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and physically assaulted the adult female over a five-day period before the female was able to escape Tomlinson and call 911 for help. Tomlinson was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial on charges of Sexual Assault in the First Degree, Kidnapping, Assault in the Fourth Degree, Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance, and Violating Conditions of Release.
