Update: On March 5, 2025, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a sexual assault in Nunam Iqua. During the investigation, troopers contacted 41-year-old Mark Aguchak, who was believed to have sexually assaulted a minor. While the Western Major Crimes Unit investigation was ongoing, he was arrested for failure to register as a sex offender. On May 5, Aguchak was contacted again and arrested in Nunam Iqua on charges of second- and fourth-degree sexual abuse of a minor and first- and second-degree charges of sexual assault. He was remanded to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center.
