UPDATE 4/2: On April 2, 2025, volunteers from the Alaska Dive Search, Rescue, and Recovery team were able to dive and inspect the submerged vehicle and located Wallin Sr. deceased inside of it. Efforts to recover the vehicle are ongoing. Next of kin have been notified.
ORIGINAL: On March 31, 2025, at 8:30 pm, the Seldovia VPSO notified the Alaska State Troopers that 83-year-old Seldovia resident Roger Wallin Sr. was missing. The VPSO and Seldovia residents began searching the community for Wallin. On April 1, 2025, search team members located a vehicle that appears to be Wallin’s submerged in approximately 30 feet of water near the Seldovia pier. Troopers are working to deploy a dive team to Seldovia to determine if Wallin is in the submerged vehicle. Updates to follow.
