Dispatch Text:

Alaska State Troopers, in coordination with the Alaska Mountain Rescue Group (AMRG), successfully rescued a hiker in distress near the Indian Creek Trailhead late Saturday night.

At approximately 11:22 PM on April 19, authorities received an SOS activation from a Garmin device belonging to a 52-year-old male hiking alone in the Indian Creek area. The hiker, who had undergone knee replacement surgery last October, was reported overdue by a companion waiting at the trailhead.

The rescue operation proceeded despite a brief cancellation of the SOS call, as the hiker later reported he couldn't feel his feet. After midnight, the Alaska Mountain Rescue Group was deployed to the last known coordinates. At approximately 2:55 AM, rescuers made contact with the hiker about a mile from the parking lot near Powerline Pass, provided food, and safely escorted him to the trailhead.
