Dispatch Text:
Over the following weekend, the Alaska Wildlife Troopers increased patrols in the Copper River Personal Use area in Chitina. Troopers made contact with over 150 fishermen. Of those contacts, 17 warnings were given, and a total of 24 citations were issued for various violations ranging from not having a personal use permit in possession, failing to mark salmon before concealing them, transporting and concealing salmon without recording them on permits, and traffic violations. The Alaska Wildlife Troopers want to remind Personal Use Fishermen to take the extra moment to immediately mark and record their caught salmon prior to concealing them in coolers, or out of plain sight. Please refer to the regulations that are printed on all the Personal Use Permits. Also, a reminder that if you are fishing in an area that may not have good cellular connection for the mobile app, to print the permit prior to fishing so you can immediately record your catch or display your permits and licenses when requested.
