Dispatch Text:
The Alaska State Troopers are investigating a road rage shooting that occurred this morning on the Parks Highway in the Wasilla area and are requesting the public's assistance.
On October 8, 2025, at approximately 7:24 a.m., Troopers received a 911 call reporting that shots had been fired at a vehicle traveling southbound on the Parks Highway near the Potter Road intersection. The victim reported that a male occupant of a silver/gray early 2000's model Toyota Camry fired at least two rounds from what appeared to be a black handgun, striking the victim's vehicle—a late 2000's model gold Chevrolet Dually pickup truck.
Investigation and review of local business security video revealed that both vehicles were traveling southbound from the South Johnsons Road area. The suspect vehicle attempted to stop abruptly in the roadway in the left lane, causing the victim vehicle to take evasive action and swerve into the right lane. The suspect vehicle then caught back up to the Dually and fired at least two rounds into the driver's side rear passenger door near the Potter Road area. One round penetrated the outer door skin while another ricocheted off the vehicle. The rounds appear to be .22 caliber. No injuries were reported.
The suspect is described as an average-sized Native male with long dark hair. The suspect vehicle was last observed near the Pittman Road traffic light traveling southbound.
Alaska State Troopers are requesting anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has information regarding the suspect or suspect vehicle to contact the Alaska State Troopers at (907) 352-5401 or submit a tip online at dps.alaska.gov/AST/ContactAST.
Troopers would especially like to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage or observed the vehicles between Willow and Wasilla during the morning commute hours, approximately between 7:15 and 7:30 a.m.
This investigation is ongoing, and further information will be released as it becomes available.
