Dispatch Text:

On 10/24/25, Alaska State Troopers in Wasilla contacted 38-year-old Qalgilan Miller and 32-year-old Demi McDonald on a traffic stop.  Troopers seized the vehicle and located evidence of mail theft/fraud and turned the case over to the Mat-Su Criminal Suppression Unit (CSU).  Members of CSU located Miller and McDonald again on 11/4/25, found additional evidence of mail theft/fraud and arrested them on numerous charges.  CSU continued the investigation through evidence obtained from the vehicles and discovered a widespread operation involving dozens of victims.  Miller and McDonald were stealing mail and using the information they obtained to defraud, steal money, obtain false identities, credit cards, cash checks, print additional checks, etc.  They were released on bail from the previous arrest while the investigation was ongoing, and they continued their pattern of behavior in the Mat-Su Valley, Chugiak, Eagle River, Anchorage and the Kenai Peninsula.  Throughout the investigation, CSU seized two vehicles they had been driving, and numerous search warrants were obtained and executed.

On 5/2/26, members of CSU located Miller and McDonald in Anchorage and attempted to stop their vehicle, but Miller eluded, recklessly driving through a neighborhood and then onto a trail through a golf course.  CSU located their vehicle abandoned on the trail system, but Miller and McDonald had fled on foot.  On 5/8/26, CSU was conducting surveillance and observed Miller and McDonald at the Fred Meyer on Abbott Road in Anchorage.  Miller and McDonald were arrested and remanded at Mat-Su Pre-Trial on 426 and 425 criminal charges respectively.  Their charges include numerous counts of Theft in the Second Degree, Fraudulent Use of an Access Device, Scheme to Defraud, Criminal Impersonation, Forgery, Criminal Mischief, Opening Sealed Mail, and many others.
