On May 13, 2026, at 10:44 pm, the Alaska State Troopers were notified of a disturbance at a residence in Wasilla. Multiple Troopers responded to the residence. After a thorough investigation, Troopers determined that 47-year-old Wasilla resident Owen Martin had assaulted an adult household member after an argument over a phone. Martin was arrested on one count of Domestic Violence Assault in the Fourth Degree and four counts of Assault in the Presence of a Child. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial facility without incident.

Martin is employed as a Court Services Officer in Palmer with the Alaska Department of Public Safety. He was off duty and out of uniform when this incident occurred. He has been placed out-of-service pending the outcome of the criminal prosecution.
