On June 15, 2026, at 3:11 pm, the Alaska State Troopers received a satellite communication device message, reporting a hiker with a leg injury needed rescue near Eagle River Lake. Trooper helicopter Helo 3 responded and transported Alaska Mountain Rescue Group team members to the area. A State Park Ranger responded on ATV. The injured hiker, an adult male, was located and transported by Helo 3 to the trailhead parking area to a waiting family member.
