Dispatch Text:

On June 18, 2026, at 6:35 pm, the Alaska State Troopers were notified that a side-by-side had rolled in the Jim Creek Recreation Area and there were reported injuries. Troopers and first responders immediately responded. A preliminary investigation determined that 32-year-old Wasilla resident Hannah Lebel was driving four juveniles in the side-by-side when it rolled onto its roof. One ten-year-old juvenile was unresponsive, and bystanders initiated life-saving care immediately at the scene. Despite the efforts of bystanders and first responders, the ten-year-old was declared deceased at the scene. The three other juveniles sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a Mat-Su area hospital for treatment. During the investigation, Troopers observed that Lebel was showing signs of impairment, and further investigation determined that she was intoxicated at the time of the rollover. Lebel was arrested on charges of Criminally Negligent Homicide, Manslaughter, Assault, and Driving Under the Influence and was transported to Mat-Su Pretrial, where she was remanded. The deceased juvenile's body was transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office, and her next of kin have been notified.
