On July 3, 2026, at 12:08 pm, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of an injured teenage female, approximately two miles up Johnson Pass Trail, in Moose Pass. Four people were riding horses, and the female was kicked by one of the horses. US Forest Service, Moose Pass Medics, and Bear Creek Fire responded using ATVs and a boat. The patient was carried to Upper Trail Lake and transported to Moose Pass via boat. She was then transported by a medical flight to an Anchorage area hospital.
