On July 15, 2026, at 3:54pm, the Alaska State Troopers were notified of a residential fire that occurred in the village of Akiak during the early morning hours. Bethel Troopers and a Fairbanks Deputy Fire Marshal responded to the scene via state aircraft and conducted a thorough investigation. The cause of the fire was found to be undetermined, but non-criminal. All people associated with the house were accounted for and no injuries were reported.
