On July 31, 2026, at 1:33 pm, the Alaska State Troopers received a report that 77-year-old Anchorage resident Joyce Weiss had tripped and fallen from a cliff in the area of the Palmer Lakes Trail, near Hope, and was deceased. US Forest Service Rangers, Wildlife Troopers and members of the Alaska Mountain Rescue Group responded. Weiss’ body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office. No foul play is suspected. Next of kin have been notified.
