On August 14, 2026 at 4:00 pm, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a hiker who was having a seizure on Sigugu Shaa mountain, near Hoonah. Capital City Fire Rescue and Juneau Mountain Rescue responded. Medics were able to contact and stabilize the hiker, who was then transported via helicopter to a local hospital for treatment.
