Dispatch Text:
AWT and the U.S. Coast Guard responded to a report of an intoxicated operator aboard the 109-foot tender Tugidak, with four souls on board. The joint investigation revealed the vessel’s captain, Kirk Negus, had consumed multiple alcoholic beverages before and during vessel operation and was observed by USCG operating the vessel. USCG boarding officers conducted FSTs, which Negus failed, and obtained a preliminary breath test of approximately 0.14. USCG transported Negus to the Near Island boat launch, where AWT took possession and continued the investigation. Negus provided a Datamaster BRAC of 0.086 and was arrested for DUI (watercraft) and remanded to the Kodiak Jail on $500 bail due to having a previous DUI within the last ten years.
